I am an avid kayaker, and paddle a few hundred miles a year. I used it for the first time on several paddles and a total of about 15 miles. Paddle is everything I expected; Light, strong, and well made. Great color that can be seen at a distance by boaters and matched my 14.5 Old Town Castine kayak's orange sunshine color. I would definitely recommend it.

Seems like a great paddle. But it's really strange that it is indexed (ovalized) on only the right hand side. I slid a smaller pipe in the other half, and used a vise with padding on the other end to gently squeeze a corresponding index on the left side. Shouldn't need to do this myself; but easier than sending back and keeping fingers crossed.

The joining sleeve (ferrule) came unglued after being used twice. The paddles were even stored inside the house so this was not due to wear and tear or storing in a humid climate. Similar to another reviewer (Amanda), the warranty has expired and I will reach out to Johnson Outdoors for a replacement. I suggest cutting out the middle man when ordering this paddle.

Beautiful colors! Shaft is a beautiful vibrant blue and the paddles look tie dyed blue and green! I bought it for my husband and liked it so much that I'm getting one for myself! I also like that it breaks down into 2 pieces Carlisle is a great brand and I have a Carlisle day tripper one piece.
