My inducer fan started making a horrible noise. All signs pointed to a bearing failure but I didn’t have the time or tools to diagnose, thus I bought this replacement motor.I discovered the mounting screws are NOT included. The motor mount holes don't have threads either. I bought #8 1/2” long hex sheet metal screws that self-tap, which worked great. Otherwise just use your old screws.I had a lot of trouble getting the old blower wheel off. Many people recommended cutting it off the motor. However, I wanted a backup plan since it was the dead of winter and the mount was very old, so I created a whole new inducer assembly. I combined the motor with a new mounting bracket with gasket and new blower wheel. I made the swap and I have the old assembly as backup.Overall spent a lot of time figuring this out but the new motor works fantastic. Hopefully this saves others some time in a similar situation as me. I consider myself handy and I found this project somewhat difficult especially with the added pressure of freezing temperatures outside.

My ancient 80% Day and Night (Carrier sub-brand I think) furnace uses this model and this is the second replacement I've bought for it maybe 20 years since the last one. The symptom is a high-pitched squeal immediately on call for heat, before the burners light and the main fan starts. The problem is that the motor ball bearings get dry and then start to get noisy, eventually seizing up if not attended to.If you catch the problem early, what's worked for me is just to get some oil into the bearings any way you can, I use a Zoom-spout oiler. That may buy you a year or two as it did me and even worked a second time but I figured it was only buying time. I bought some replacement bearings (608ZZ: and two of those if you can get them installed are just as good as this kit. The shaded pole motor is about as reliable as a stone. There are no moving parts other than the rotor and you could run it stalled indefinitely without burning it up. So if it's moving at all and you're hard core like me then replacing the bearings is likely to get you another 10 years. The big challenge is releasing the squirrel-cage fan attached to the motor shaft. Most repair videos just cut that off with a reciprocating saw and replace the fan cage together with this motor, but I was able to break the set-screw loose (which I think has high-strength loctite on it) by applying heat a few times with a small butane torch. Anyway, back in business now, running quiet, took maybe an hour but I work slowly and carefully. Well worth the trouble in any case, the family never even realized the heat was out for a maintenance shut-down :)

Feb 2025 I deceived a motor with the wider coil. And longer shaft.

These are very easy to install and saved me a ton of money which the contractor asked for.Good purchase for my 2001 carrier furnace.

Installed it and it fixed the noise concern I had from the old motor. After not even a month the motor has started making a grinding noise every time the motor runs. The old part was about 10 years old and was making a squealing noise when running. Either this new motor is defective or the motor has bad quality bearings. With the motor being competitively priced compared to similar motors on the market, I am not sure the value is in line with the quality of this motor.

Perfect fit, and so glad delivery was fast. Weather was getting cold, and repairman wasn’t available for a week! Furnace running smoothly.

It works great! Easy replacement of old seized motor. The fan shaft is way longer than the old one so I had to just guess as to the squirrel cage fans position on the shaft. Had to reinstall it several times but finally found the right position that didn't scrape anything. For the future measure the Gap in between the squirrel cage fan and the metal retaining plate to get it right the first time!

This is not a direct bolt on item, it says in the description that it replaces a bunch of fan models but not exactly. I had a 10704 but when the fan arrived it was configured differently, it had the same motor, shaft size and length but the mounting for the fan to cage was not even close. Do to owning a machine shop I was able to easily modify the old components to work with the new motor but I think the average buyer would be very unhappy. At the end of the day I had more time into it than what it was worth and it would have been less expensive to just buy the entire fan unit for $120 and be done in a matter of minutes rather than the 2 hours spent dicken with it.

Fast delivery, excellent value and great product. I would have rated 5 out of 5 but when I opened the package I found that the heavy motor had bounced around and destroyed the cardboard box during shipping. Thankfully the motor and plastic parts were okay and only the flat electrical connectors had been bent; easy to straighten.
