When I first started coloring, I bought the standard set of Castle Arts pencils (not the Gold Standard pencils), but found them difficult to work with- I thought they were scratchy, hard to blend, and difficult to lay down color. I read some reviews, and tried out some other pencils. Fast forward two years, and I've amassed quite a collection of pencils that I love. Recently, I'd heard good things about the Gold Standard pencils, and decided to give the Castle Arts another try. I've been very pleasantly surprised! The color range is fantastic, and they are a nice "in between" pencil. The color lays down easily, and they have a slightly creamy texture that blends well (similar to a prismacolor) but they keep a sharper point and don't crumble/break easily or give off a lot of dust (more like a poly), which makes them great for smaller detail work. They also mix well with the Castle Arts pastel pencils (which I also highly recommend) and that allows for a wider range of light colors/highlights. The only downside is that they don't erase as well as some others-but that seems a small tradeoff for a nice basic pencil that I can (and do) use often. I can recommend these are a good set for beginners, as well as a great addition for someone more advanced.

These are Gold standard, which means you can use them with H2O for a watercolor effect. If you like to color with pencils these are worth the extra money. Big difference from most brands that are cheaper.

I was not sure there was difference between the gold and regular but there is a huge difference. Much better quality and pencils don’t break and stay sharp for awhile. They are very similar to Cezanne pencils and less expensive. Highly recommended

Ok, so my heading doesn't say much about the entire package.. but I've only used the white pencil on a bridal dress design. So it goes on smoothly and feels smooth while using. Nice. The thing is, you don't really notice the white pencil on white paper while you are actually using it..., BUT, hours later, I guess after it has "dried" or "reacted with the air," the white is WHITE. It is literally pure white and extremely noticeable.I LOVE the white pencil! and because of this, I'm rating the ENTIRE package 100.I'm definitely going to use the white one completely first, so I hope they have packs of White Oil Base Pencil sets.

These are my 3rd set of the Gold Series and I love them. They're very soft and the colors are beautiful. I don't have the breakage like I do with other sets of colored pencils. The Castle Arts brand have become my go to colored pencil sets. Even when I do combine them with other colored pencils in my collection they are my favorite. I have a set to travel with also because I love them so much.

I absolutely love these pencils. First, they are extremely well made. I have yet to break a point and I press very firmly in order to get the maximum saturation on the paper. I have both the oil-based and the wax-based 72 pencil sets and prefer the oil-based. If I had it to do over, I would get 120 pencil set.

Love how soft the pencils are, color goes on smooth. The sample page is great, love how the sample blocks are numbered to match the pencil, you have enough space to apply a soft and hard line in each block so you see what the color will actually look like. Will be buying again.

J'ai acheté ces 120 crayons castle arts pour économiser mes polychromos, ils sont vraiment très bien pour le prix. Belle palette de couleurs miscible à l'eau. Mines douces, assez fortes pour les détails et pour les plus grandes surfaces, les couleurs se mélangent bien ensembles. Ils ont tout de grandes marques. Livré avec soin, pas de doublons, pas de casses, mines impeccables. Se taillent très bien. J'aime beaucoup cette marque de moyenne gamme qui mérite d'être connue et prix abordable. Bon rapport qualité prix. Envoi rapide. Je les recommande vivement.

I am so happy I took a chance on this gorgeous set of coloured pencils. Creamy, vibrant and comfortable to hold. They lay consistently and create beautiful works of art. Highly reccomend.

Die ölbasierten Buntstifte von Castle Art Supplies stehen den originalen Polychromos von Faber Castell in fast nichts nach. Der Preis ist um einiges erschwinglicher und um auszuprobieren, ob diese Maltechnik etwas für einen ist oder nicht, bestens geeignet. Ich bin mit den Ergebnissen super zufrieden. Es macht sehr viel Spaß mit den Buntstiften von Castle Art Supplies zu malen und zu zeichnen. Sie sind weich und doch widerstandfähig, geben die Farbe sehr gut ab und es macht einfach Spaß!
