I got this to replace an aged Motorola Radio speaker in my take home patrol car. It was easy to splice to existing wire and get everything set up. The only trouble I had was that the supplied brackets footprint was comically large compared to the Motorola bracket. It would not fit where the original speaker was placed. I ended up using a sturdy L bracket which easily solved the issue. This is a very niche problem and not a fault of the device but rather my specific issue. The speaker itself sounds great and is punchier than the Motorola one. A small gripe is that the wire feels cheap and flimsy. Like a pair of dollar store headphones. These speakers are so nice though, I may end up upgrading the wire myself to further bulletproof the install.

I own a Yamaha Viking side-by-side utility vehicle. While the vehicle is used mostly around the farm for chores and during hunting season, occasionally it gets out on some recreational adventures. When more than one machine goes out on the trails it is important to have communication among everyone; especially in a large group. Several years ago we all go GMRS radios to communicate. I put a mobile rig on my machine. Unfortunately with the sound and a helmet hearing the mobile radio was next to impossible unless it was stopped or going at slow speeds. Suffice it to say, it made it difficult to communicate as we traversed the trails. The mobile radio has a port in the back that supports an external speaker. I figured I would give this a try to see if it increased the volume. WOW, did it ever. This blew the factor speaker right out of the water! It provides a rich, full sound that is now much easier to hear over the stock speaker in the micro-mobile radio. Additionally, the speaker was much bigger, and heavier, than I expected. I am not complaining at all as this only means a more solid and robust product. The cord on the unit is also generous enough for most instillations. I am also pleased that it included not only mounting screws, but also metal clips for mounting on plastic to secure it nicely. This is an extremely high quality external speaker that can complement any radio in a multitude of situations. I am also considering getting another one to supplement some of my amateur radio operations. You cannot go wrong with this product and especially at this price point!

The sound quality of this speaker is solid, but check the dimensions carefully, because it's much bigger than I expected. Also, the volume isn't great. I have to turn my radio up pretty high to be able to hear very well, even with the speaker aimed directly at me.

The box inside the envelope was tore up. Crushed,,opened,,ripped. Look like it had been stomped. They had to have seen this when they put it in the bag. I'm hoping it works if not I'll be unhappy. No instructions I'm glad it was simple to install.

This speaker is much bigger than I expected. While that is not a problem, the low volume IS a problem. In everything I plugged it into, the volume is so low that I can barely hear it. THAT is a deal breaker. It not only needs to look nice but also operate nicely. Into the donation pile it goes.

I have a lot of radio gear and often use external speakers so I can hear a given radio over road noise. I also use them at home, but the main issue in both cases is that purpose-built external speakers are almost always a little weak in the sound delivery department. Not this one!First, it's much larger than the common external speakers usually produced for this purpose. Second, it's a solid build and there's nothing "cheap" about it. This is my favorite purpose-built external speaker to date! The speaker arrived with the mounting hardware attached to the speaker, and everything is there so that one can permanently mount it in their rig or at home. Note that the mounting bracket has the customary knobs on the sides that one would loosen to adjust the speaker angle and then tighten where one wants it. However, it also has detents in the mounting frame and speaker, so when you lock it down, it won't slowly move over time. This is a big win for offroading! Further, if one chooses to use it at home, the mounting screw holes are recessed even on the bottom, so rubber or felt feet can be inserted to keep the speaker from vibrating (rubber/felt feet not included). In use, it's a winner. Not only does it allow the radio's audio to be heard much clearer due to the improved frequency response not found in internal speakers, but it's also loud and will allow high volumes with no clipping or distortion. It simply performs exceptionally and I'm perfectly happy with this item.I will be purchasing several more!

Right away, I was very impressed with the weight and feel of this speaker. The basic, no frills design really makes me think of the term mil-spec. This thing certainly seems like it will take a lot of punishment. It would certainly be right at home in an off-road vehicle. That being said, this speaker would be equally at home at home, in a ham shack, or in other indoor setting as well. The first feature that I liked is the click action angle adjustment enabling more customization for mounting. This feature, combined with the mounting holes in the base and the included metal clips, allow the speaker to be attached at a huge variety of different angles, including upside down from the roof. Finally, the 20 watt capacity allows for volume adjustment to account for ambient conditions such as wind noise or distance monitoring from other locations in a building.All-in-all, I know that I will be getting a lot of use out of this speaker.
