Directions: Thoroughly heat the part to cherry red in color. Be sure the part (or section of the part to be hardened) is completely heated for best results. Coat part in Cherry Red compound. Cover all surfaces to be hardened. Compound will blister and harden. Reheat part to cherry red color. Quench in water, oil, or let cool and brush off excess compound. Cherry Red is water soluble and excess can be removed with water and a little brushing.

I'm a bladesmith so I'm very Familiar with hardening and tempering cycles but I've been Getting into gun smithing lately and needed to case harden Some wear parts made from mild steel It was literally magic. Just sprinkle it on and quench It'll skate a Nicholson like nothing. No idea what it's made from, but it seems magical and very wear resistant even using on mild steel not sure how deep the jacket goes but good for wear parts as far as I can tell
