I gave this product 5 stars for being a good, well-made kitchen item. I bought it as I planned to foray into making egg custards, and read reviews on this product. Some said that the pan was not dishwasher-safe, but I don't know why you would WANT to put the pan/rack in the dishwasher...since it is filled with water, in the 2 batches I've made so far it was trivial to clean both times...no baked-on stuff on the pan/rack, only in the ramekins. Now, I want to flag that I read in the comments that you cannot get replacement ramekins for broken ones. However, I went ahead & bought some 6oz ramekins from Bed Bath & Beyond (says 6 3/4 oz, I got just over 6 oz measured): Libbey Glass 6-Piece Glass Ramekins Set with Lids SKU # 47058484. I wanted some w/lids for transporting egg custards. They fit!! They touch the bottom of the pan (they aren't held up like the ones in the set), but they fit just fine & can be lifted out w/ the rack. Thought you all ought to know! Now a description:The pan is heavier than I had thought it would be, nice & substantial. Ditto the rack. Since I have arthritis a bit in my hands, gripping is an issue, so I would like to point out the pan "wings" are easy to grip (wide enough) and the handles on the rack are high enough to easily grasp as well. The ramekins themselves are a nice weight... but I should note that I measured their volume & it is closer to 5.5 oz than 6 oz. They are held a short distance above the bottom of the pan by the rack, as described. Definitely worth the price, IMO.

This set is fantastic. A bit about me...I like to cook and bake a whole variety of things, but I'm not a professional by any means. Here's my assessment:Pros:1. The ramekins are a standard size for the majority of the recipes I've seen on various cooking websites, so you won't have to adjust the recipes to fit the 4 ramekins. You won't make too much or too little. It's just right :).2. The pan, wire rack, and ramekins fit together nice and snug like they're supposed to, so it's good quality engineering.3. I believe that this set up actually helps you avoid sloshing water into the ramekins. I did a test with this set and a single ramekin in another pan of water. I found that I had to be a lot more careful with the other pan to avoid getting water in the ramekin, but I was able to do it. You can just be a little quicker with the wire rack in place.4. After the above experiment, I also realized that it's much easier to remove the ramekins from the water pan using the rack handles than it is to remove the hot ramekins with kitchen mitts. Again, it's not like it's impossible to remove the ramekins without the rack, but it certainly makes it easier.Cons:1. I'd recommend that Chicago sell the ramekins and wire rack separately without the pan, since most people already have an 8x8" pan. Or, for those of us that already had ramekins, they should offer the wire rack by itself rather than buy the whole set.If you really like to make creme brulee and have the space in your kitchen, I definitely recommend buying this product. It simplifies the baking process enormously, and isn't THAT expensive. I actually bought a second one since I only seem to cook for 2 or 6-8! If you only make creme brulee once in a long while, or you have limited space in your kitchen, it's probably not worth it, but I'm extremely happy with this set.

After the first time I ever had crème brûlée, I've been making it at home ever since using ramekins and a glass dish that never fit the sizes of the ramekins at all, so they always came out lopsided. This however, has been a game changer. Bought this for my birthday, and talk about ease of use. It was perfect, the pots obviously fit perfectly in the tin and in the metal rings and it makes removal so easy when its done which was a huge problem with hot boiling water in my previous set up. Very pleased. This makes an easy to make desert, even easier!

These are great, because I bought them specifically for crème brûlée, but once I tried to use them for chicken pot pie and they ended up being way too small.Perfect for desserts but not for meals. I like that it comes with the pan. Good ramekins.

The pan is fine. Doubles as a brownie pan or water pan for bread. The ramekins are like any other ramekin and work just as good as any other. 4oz by fluid volume will bring it right up to inner rim. The rack which holds the ramekins hasn’t warped but I’ve only used it to make crème brûlée once. The ramekins also don’t sit “perfect†inside the rack as they can still be crooked.Good price - ✔ï¸Does what it says - ✔ï¸Good portion size for dessert - ✔ï¸

I haven’t actually used it as yet, but just opening and taking a look to ensure everything was in there and nothing was broken…it seems pretty nice! It may be a little bit smaller than I would like, but it’s not bad at all, and it’s not a deal breaker…

This is a great set for beginners of Creme Brulee. I got one like this about 10 years ago and that one was given away so I needed another one. I can make it without the set but getting a pan and some other containers but this one is nice because it comes with the lifter and you don't have to fidget with tongs or gloves trying to pull the ramekins out of the pans. I would like to see a set with the lower profile ramekins that have a wider profile. Those are great for making more of the crunchy stuff.

3 of the 4 bowls fit into the tray that's provided the fourth one is not even close to the same as the others

I received my product and noticed that the quality of the ramekins is less than I expected. One of the ramekins has a chip in it and the other has some strange residue on the lip. I'm sure the residue will wash off, but the chip is more of a concern. Overall, the set is a cool idea and is very affordable; however, it might be this affordability that lead to the lack of quality for the ramekins.
