I am teaching myself watercolor and I am having fun with this kit. Don’t know how to judge the quality of the paints as I have nothing to compare it to except the ones made for little kids. The squares are pretty small, but lots of color variety. Comes with great tools. I have not mastered blending, so again, can’t judge the quality there. Fun! Good value.

I am brand new at using water colors. I purchased the watercolor pans and then the watercolor paints in tubes. Now that I chose to buy the pan set of 128 colors, I feel like I want to stick with this set.Game Changing features:--128 different colors, many of which have a beautiful sheen to luster to them.--Fit inside the included metal tool kit with two latches----The kit includes a NICE water color paint brush (***Chromatek brand and very nice) a water brush a pencil an eraser a pencil sharpener a sponge a small pad of watercolor paper Three watercolor swatching pages with enough room for all 128 colorsChromatek's various kits work hand in han d with their website . Tutorials are there to teach beginner concepts and projects, include in the watercolor paper. The kits include watercolor paper, and some kits have templates printed onto their included paper.I swatched these colors to make a piece of art, as suggested by a You-Tuber. This palette has 128 VIBRANT and INTERESTING colors!!! I swatched a different palette recently and the Chromotek 128 palette is significantly more vibrant, and easier to use. This palette delivers!If you are ALSO a beginner, zoom in and look at my swatch collage. I continued with the same brush, cleaning it when changing colors. Occasionally I would dry my brush and lift a bead of excess paint. In most cases, the color was perfect and I didn't feel the need to lift the bead. In only a few cases, the colors bled together, but I encouraged that to happen in many areas.I didn't stretch the paper before making the design. The page still lays very flat.Every single color was easy to use and behaved uniformly. I used a round brush and heavily sprayed down my palette first. When I was ready to swatch the specific row, I added a big drop of water onto the individual pans in that row. I was able to achieve consistency in this first experience.For this 128 color palette and kit, the ONLY thing I wanted and didn't get was a black fine line marker. Everything else that I wanted WAS included.***PLEASE take advantage of the online tutorials. *** I LOVE THEM. They are well done, quick and uplifting. The lessons define a skill, then allow you to practice, and finish by putting the skill to use on a template. The idea is that you wouldn't have to learn to paint AND draw at the same time. The templates allow you to skip the drawing part. I REALLY appreciate that!This is my top pick of all the items I've purchase so far!

I snagged this Lil field kit just to try it out and honestly? It's not a bad lil kit! It's comes with swatch sheets so you can see how the pigments will behave and of course I swatched every color. The metallics were definitely not as concentrated as the regular colors and needed just a bit longer to saturate the brush and subsequently the paper but other than that, I really think it's a pretty good kit for as inexpensive as it is. The pans are smallish but nothing to complain about considering it is indeed a field kit. I can see this lasting a considerable amount of time if you look at how many color options it comes with. It basically removes the need to use colors just for mixing and matching and they all can be blended together quite well. I'll definitely be buying these again since the price really can't be beat for what it covers. It's something you can just put in a bag and go, not a big ol thing to lug around. Just get a lil water container to go with it and you'll be golden! Perfect for impromptu paint sessions where ever your heart takes you!

Lovely colors, great for landscapes and flowers. great beginner set and great for easy travel Out doors. Happy with them and it came in nice velvet bag.

Just my luck. Received my paint pallet, opened the box. When I slid the set out & unlocked the box, it flopped open and things went flying. The hinge on the right side had no pin connecting the top & bottom together so it's kind of a mess. Am I supposed to hold the top & bottom together with an elastic when not in use? Looks unattractive. Is not convenient at all. I've come to expect more from Chromatek than this.
