No problems whatsoever to use. You can record multiple movies on the provided thumb drive before transferring to the computer. The software is professional quality and allows for intuitive and quick modifications (trimming the video and adding audio effects). Don't look for this to magically make your VHS quality video equal to Blue Ray or anything like that! It does a fairly decent job with the quality, and you CAN 'upscale' the video quality. But don't think of it as better looking (i.e. making grainy video crisp and clear); think of it as better QUALITY video (i.e. Still grainy, but more pixels per square inch). Still, overall it does exactly what I wanted and is easy to use. Highly recommend for digitizing and saving your VHS, DVD, Blue Ray, and whatever video you can plug in with S-Video or RCA connectors. Also, the software is pretty top-notch. Can use that for editing audios, as well. Or creating videos (to include photo slide show) and adding audio (dubbing music or narration).

Had hundreds of movies on various media, hi 8, super hi8, vhs, beta. My hubs wasn’t convinced this would record satisfactory, but I bought it anyway. He has transferred most of our archives and loves the results. We have adult sons and have been watching their toddler days ( which at our age we forgot) on thumb drives inserted into our TV.The recorder is easy to use, attach the cables and insert a thumb drive and your videos are transferred in real time. We did set timers to stop the recordings because we didn’t know the length of many of our tapes. But this wasn’t inconvenient.

the flash drive has stopped working. The converter itself is very very easy to use and delivers very decent quality MP4s, video and audio. The capture to the flash drive included with the system was also great. That made it easy to just transfer all captures from miniDVs (so far) to my desktop (windows), and I was able to move a few files at a time over. After I captured and moved about 40 files, the flash stopped being recognized by the converter and my desktop. Good thing all files were moved, but now I have to buy and format a new flash drive as I have many more tapes to convert. Stay tuned.Update: New flash drive purchased ($13) - exactly the same as provided by the vendor. Worked with the converter out of the package, did not have to format. Began capturing again and all was well for about 10 or so more captures. Captures of a few hi8 tapes went well, quality was good. Then, the system just stopped working. It would not power on. It's a brick. I have requested a replacement which is supposed to arrive in a few days. Stay tuned.Update: The new system arrived within a few days and the return went smoothly. The new unit completed the rest of our hi8 tapes (nearly 100 in all) with no problem. One thing I did notice is that high action video is jerky. Sometimes, not always. The more action, the worse the jerking. The viewfinder video on the camcorder is fine, but the jerking translates to the MP4 video. That might be due to my 30 year old camcorder or tape degradation or both. The S-video didn't work at all. However, seeing as I spent about $280 with LegacyBox converting 20 miniDV and hi8 tapes, and I spent $200 on this setup, I saved quite a bit of $$$ converting the rest of the tapes myself.Others have slammed the software...I'm not even bothering with it, so I suppose I could've purchased the system without it. Today, I'm converting a few hi8 tapes that were not successfully converted by LegacyBox. So far, so good.If someone would figure out a system to convert old film reels with video AND audio for this price, you'd make a fortune. Even LegacyBox can't do that...video only.

This has worked perfectly to save my family's old VHS home movies. It's super easy and has worked nearly flawlessly. The saved videos look just like the VHS so use the best VCR possible to get the best quality out. The customer support was also very quick to help with a connection issue.

I wanted a device to convert VHS tapes to digital files that was easy to use and works. This device worked for me. Just plug it into the appropriate output on your VCR, plug in the USB drive, follow the instructions and set up the menu to record video and audio (set for 4:3 ratio if your recordings were done for older TV shows), press play on the VCR and record on the device and it starts. Since it is analog playback, it will take as long as the recording is to copy. It's not digital. You can't copy quickly. You don't have to be super-techy to use it, but you at least need to know how to connect a VCR and USB drive. Once it's recorded, just unplug the USB drive and plug it into your computer and view/copy the mp4 (video) or mp3 (audio) files.PROS: Easy to use. Built-in screen means no PC or phone needed.CONS: Picture quality was not quite as good as the original VHS tape, but decent. Audio does not have the bass level that the VHS tape had (only a problem if you have music with lots of bass.) Had a problem with skipping when I recorded audio mp3 files when using battery power, but when I plugged it into the AC adapter, it seems to work fine. The built-in screen stretches the 4:3 ratio image, but it doesn't record it that way if you set the format to 4:3.Overall, I would recommend this device.

All my old video cameras, VCR tapes and Cassette tapes ... record directly to a huge thumb drive.Pretty nice to archive all the old family history.I'm not technical at all, and I got it.Even comes with video editing software. It takes time to run all your old tapes... but that's not this things fault.

Let me start by saying I'm thrilled with the Video2Digital Converter 3.0! I've been wanting to digitize a box full of old VHS tapes for ages, and this little gadget made the process painless.Setup was a breeze. No wrestling with complicated instructions – I had it hooked up to my VCR in minutes. The included cables were a huge plus, and the device itself felt very sturdy. What really impressed me was the ease of use. It's literally a two-button operation – pop in a microSD card (not included, but that's a minor detail), connect your device, and hit record. The 5-inch screen is a fantastic addition – I could preview the recordings directly on the converter, which saved me a lot of time compared to transferring blind. The video quality is great for home movies. My digitized tapes look exactly as I remember them, and the audio is clear too. It's not fancy professional quality, but that's not what I needed. For anyone looking for a simple and effective way to convert old home videos to digital, I can't recommend the Video2Digital Converter 3.0 enough. It's a lifesaver for anyone with a box of VHS tapes gathering dust in the attic! The rechargeable battery was also a great selling point for me.
