Our horse wears these daily at night to pad his hooks. They work great and are holding up well. They stay put too!

My Appaloosa had a serious injury to his left hind quarter which made it very difficult for him to get up off the ground for several months. As a result of his struggling, even with deep bedding, he ended up with serious hock and pastern sores. These hock shields absolutely did the job. I ended up ordering another pair so he could wear one and I could wash the other. He wears them anytime he is in his pen. He had no problem adjusting to wearing them which was a surprise. It has been brutally hot but they are comfortable. Wash up really well. After months the sores are almost gone. Happy day!

When it stayed on the horse it was quite effective. The hock sore healed. But there is a fine line between tight enough to stay on (not rotate or slip down and become more of a bell boot) and not so tight that it swells around it. But, to be fair, the horse lives outside and they noted that it’s not recommended for turnout. The horse ultimately destroyed it but I think that was mostly due to his annual and odd hock itchiness and he just wanted it OFFF.

My elderly mare developed sores on both hocks that were not healing well. Using these boots helped prevent her from injuring them every time she lay down. It took a few tries to get them on snug enough to stay up. Once we got that figured out they have stayed in place, even though she lays down and gets up several times during the night. Early on one slipped down and got muddy when she walked on it; it was difficult to remove by hand washing. It would have been easier to machine wash but I didn’t want all that dirt in my washer. These boots are well made and best of all, my mares’ hock sores are healing well.

These aren't the same as the original ones with the flat in front of the hock. Those stay in place and protect the hock much better than these. These do have better adjustability than the ones with flaps all around since there is velcro on both sides. These do the job but shift frequently, enough to nullify the protection they were made to provide. I still use them, but next time I'll be careful to purchase the version that also has a flap in front of the hock.

I have a 14.3h quarter horse… I got an extra large to fit his legs. He had hockey sores from lying down and getting up off his hocks and these boots are perfect! They have stayed on even in turnout and in his stall. I haven’t noticed any of his circulation being cut off or any discomfort on his part. I’m very happy with them and would buy them again!

To get these to actually stay up, they have to be extremely tight. So tight that it left open sores on my guy after one night in use. Caused worse sores than the hock sores. And yes, I did try it looser for several nights in a row slowly making it tighter each night because they weren't staying on.They should make the elastic piece that digs into the horse, softer and with padding to avoid digging into the leg.For anyone looking to buy this, don't waste your $$. Just use swimmers athletic tape with a cpl layers wrapped all the way around the hock and replace as needed.

Use these for my Percherons that can get bed sores on the hocks on rough ground. Work great to put over bandages to protect hock while it heals up.

Durable, and are helping so much! My 24 year old mare has a hard time getting up and was ripping her hock open every day because she always lays down. This has solved the issue. Love them!

Absolute Kaufempfehlung!

My horse keeps knocking his hock in the stable. I tried neoprene boots which protected him well but we're always round his ankle by the morning and he wore through them in a couple of weeks. These hock shields are amazing. They don't need to be done up too tight and always stay up. They show no signs of were and yet and he wears them every night. I can be sure that no matter how many times he gets up and down in the night his hock is safe. These are expensive but worth every penny.

Since using these my horse doesn’t get hock rubs. I’m on my second season and no more bleeding hocks. They are pricy but worth it.

These are the only hock boots I've found that actually stay put when my horse rolls and moves around. Have struggled with her getting sores on them in the summer from the hard ground and so pleased to have found a solution.
