Product Description

This unique CMT rail and stile set allows you to produce glass panel doors using a rubber panel retainer to secure the glass in a 1/8-Inch slot cut into the frames. The included 1/2-shank bits also make a square rabbet on the inside of your door for installing the glass panel. Bits feature super-strength superior steel bodies, Non-Stick Orange Shield Coating and cutting edges made of SinterHip Hi-Density Industrial Chrome Carbide for a long-lasting performance. Not for use on hand-held router. Use them on router table. After a test performed by Wood Magazine, CMT orange bits have been rated the first overall router bits compared to other brands. Included in the hardwood case you will find a Ogee Rail & Stile Set and a 1/8-Inch Slot cutter.

From the Manufacturer

Another innovative CMT product designed by Marc Sommerfeld. This unique stile and rail set allows you to easily produce glass panel doors utilizing a rubber panel retainer to secure the glass in an 1/8" slot that is cut into the door frames. This set works the same as our other stile and rail sets but leaves you with a square rabbet on the inside of your door for installing the glass panel. The bits are designed to machine all pieces face down. After machining the cope and pattern cuts use the 1/8 slot cutter to cut the groove for the rubber panel retainer. The edge of the pattern cut will ride on the guide bearing on the slot cutter bit (see drawing). When you cut the groove in the rails you can cut the slot the full length of the stock. When you cut the groove in the stiles you need to set up reference points to stop and start the cuts so they are hidden from view on the top and bottom of the doors. 1/2 Shanks.

These are great, high quality bits that work exactly as one would expect. I have used these many times and they are still as sharp as when I first bought them.

Great product. I bought this set for the stained glass panel doors I am making. All serious woodworkers should have this set in their tool set.

Will update when I use, but as a newby to cabinets, there were no instructions with the kit. No instructions at their sight, only a video. Very disappointed now. After I use, I may change my mind.........

I made some glass doors for my kitchen cabinets using these bits. Fit is great. I recommend buying the rubber gasket for holding the glass in at the same time you buy these bits.

This was the answer I was looking for to inset glass in curio tables and display cases. Watch the YouTube video for a quick easy start. Do exactly as they say and you will have perfect success on the first try. Make your own wood glass retainers for cheap. Don't cheapen your beautiful work with the expensive rubber gasket. I highly recommend this product !!

This is a good set. The only gripe is that the cutter for the glass rabbet is minimal and if you're using stock thicker that 3/4" (say 13/16) your cut is right at the edge and can leave little leaves you have to snap off. If they made this cutter 1/4" deeper, that problem would go away. However, it would be likely that most would just elevate the bit to correct this but in my case I was matching to an existing profile and couldn't do that.
