Our ever-curious, ever-hungry, cat could not get into this container overnight even when he knew it contained the scraps of our grilled steak dinner. That was our main criteria for replacement, since we no longer need to empty it after EVERY meal. The extra large opening lets us easily scrape our food in during prep and after meals. The inner basket is removable and fits nicely in our dishwasher. And it’s stylish enough to be displayed on our countertop. I wish we found this sooner.

Perfect little compost collector for our countertop! Our community recently began compost collection and I thought when we initially received the product it would be too small. As a matter of fact, it fits perfectly on the countertop, takes up limited space and holds weekly compost for this family of 4.Considerations before purchase included:1) rubber feet on bottom to keep bin from sliding2) lid that open/closes with the touch of a button (not automatic)4) wide enough lid opening where a plate/bowl can easily be scraped into the bin5) removable collector bin for easy cleaning6) stylish and blended in with our appliances, existing trashcan, etc.To control odors, a separate self-adhesive charcoal filter was added (simplehuman Odorsorb Filter Kit, Natural Charcoal ASIN:B009OYFSR8) and I also purchased compostable bags to line the removable collector bin (Greener Walker 100% Compostable Trash Bags ASIN : B07QPVK69R).Great purchase, would recommend.

I was using an old ice cream bucket for my scraps and I was sick of looking at it so I decided to give this a try. I like it but I had to take away a star because of a couple things. Mine came missing one of the rubber feet. I didn't want to send it back because of that so I added a small felt foot and that worked fine. Also, if you get the outside part of the bin dirty its a little hard to clean. It has a lip on the top that makes it so you can't dump all of the dirty water out when washing. It keeps catching food bits. Otherwise I like it. It holds in the smell and looks so much better on my counter than plastic ice cream tubs.

I was looking for a food waste bin to replace an old broken one. Was I in luck? This bin has the perfect width and depth. Due to the wide opening, there will be no more food spillages.

Nice enough looking and works fairly well. I just add a small compost bag to it. However, the lid broke after one year. There are 2 springs which will cause the lid to pop up and stay up. First one of supports for the lid broke, the other broke a week later. If it would have lasted I would have given it 5 stars.

Perfect match to my stainless steel appliances.Removable interior tray for emptying/washing.Optional bags available but a bit tricky to fit, they never seem to sit right.Spring loaded lid for one handed operation.I'm really pleased with it.

But this one is Nice. Small box that sits on counter top. Lid opens and stays open until you want it closed. Lid has plenty of clearance room under cupboard. Basket removes easily. Sturdy construction.

Initially, the cover to this compost bucket popped open nicely when the open button is pressed. However, while cleaning it and handling it by the open cover, the plastic hinges easily broke and the opening springs popped out and could not be re-installed due to the area cracking. Now I have to manually open the cover which is a pain because usually when you are trying to fill it your hands are full of "compost" material. Eventually the plastic hinges completely broke and now I now have the cover held on with black electrical tape acting as the hinges. Not cool, for a $30 product to last only 3 months. I loved this when it was working, but very low quality in the hinges.

I have had this item nearly a year. To begin with it was great, liked that I could touch the opener with the side of my hand.However after a few months the plastic that held the opener broke. So I have been opening it as I would a normal bin. But now the back plastic has broken so the lid is loose.The idea is great, the bin looks good, but the plastic for me did not hold up.

I’m really disappointed, I bought this product as a christmas gift to my parents and about 3 months later it broke! I am embarrassed and I now I have to spend more money to get another one. Don’t waste your money, look somewhere else.
