Works to expand copper piping. I use it for 1/4 inch tubing for seal systems. I suggest you heat the pipe up first (chance the tip will break if you don't) and you have to rotate as you expand it or it will be egg/oval shaped. Works for what I need it for.

It's a mandatory tool that I keep in my bags while installing air conditioning, for copper tubing and fittings. I wore a different one out, The spring in the handle broke. I like this one it's in the head seems to work better. I bought three of them because the boys were always borrowing mine, so I gave two of them away. You've got three satisfied customers here.

I purchased this on a chance that it would work for my purpose, I create jewelry from upcycled materials, this was for really cool Keychains from spent bullet shells and I can see this working for many other of my jewelry creations.Don't understand the low stars, I would give 10 stars if possible!!!!!!

you will do some pumping but as long as squeeze and rotate everytime can open it up without splitting pipe

This tool is much more powerful than I thought it would be! It's a very strong tool, and fairly compact for the power it delivers. I thought this would be just for flexible coiled copper tubing, but it also works are rigid copper tubing (if you had to). The tool is much more ideally suited for flexible coiled copper tubing though, because the repeated hand strength needed to expand rigid tubing is pretty intense, not something you would want to have to do for more than a couple joints. I do like the spreading action of these pliers versus hammer or drill swaging options. These pliers make tearing less likely than the hammer options and greatly reduces the heat produced by drill powered swaging options. I like that there is a clasp to hold the handles shut for more compact storage.
