I had researched chillers and found this price to be half of what my local supply store sells. But it is made completely differently. This thing is not manufactured in the traditional sense. I think it is actually made by the seller for brewers with brewers' issues in mind. The hose connections are soldered on, not clamped. That equates to zero leaks. More to the point, as the temperatures rapidly change and thereby the size of the item and hose fittings, it still doesn't leak.Just drop the thing into the wort for the final 15 mins (just remember to do it when you drop in the Irish Moss), and it is well-sterilized well before the end of the boil.I just had to pick up two short garden hoses from the local hardware store to connect them up (get a sturdy hose for discharge, as the water which first comes out is bloody HOT), and it works like a charm. Just get the fittings nice and tight.

I had read a lot about immersion chillers before purchasing this product. The usage is fairly simple, during the last 10 minutes of your boil, place the immersion chiller directly into the wort and after knockout run water through the coil. This chiller cooled the wort quickly, much faster than an ice bath.I ran a garden hose to this chiller and a smaller 3 ft hose exiting. Note, you may need to get rubber seals for the hoses from your local home improvement store. They provide one for the hose entering, but not for exiting. However, water dripping from the exiting connection did not come near the wort because these connectors are well outside the brew pot.Be sure to clean this coil when you get it, the supplier had a little bit of grease left on the coil from the welding. A minor thing.

glad i purchased the chiller with the hose ends already attached makes connecting hoses easy. had to go to the hardware store and pick up two short hoses, not a problem. i have made three beers so far with this chiller. it cuts off soooo much time and gets your wort down from boiling to 74 degrees in just a few minutes. this works for my 40qt boil pot and also fits inside my 22qt pot. make sure to check all the rubber seals inside the hose connection before connecting a hose, you may spray water right into your wort...

The Copper Coil Immersion Chiller works great for chilling my wort after boiling. It takes about 10 min to bring it down to ~ 72 degrees F. The connectors are already on the pipes (glued or epoxied not soldered but seems to hold just fine) and I have used it for my last 6 batches and it works great. It was the cheapest I could find online and I would highly recommend if someone is looking for an affordable chiller that functions well.

I ordered this for our brew party on labor day. I ordered the item over a week in advance of our picnic. Tomorrow will be two weeks since I ordered the item, and it's still not here.I have yet to lay eyes on the product, so I can't speak for its quality yet. However, if you're planning on needing this quickly, buy something else.

This is a good chiller and does it's job. The only issue you could potentially run into is that you may need to buy more things. There is a male and female garden hose fitting, so if you're doing this in your kitchen sink, you may need to buy some fittings and tubing to hook it up to that, otherwise you'll have to use it with a garden/laundry hose. I bought some just in case, but it does hook up to a garden hose easily. I only needed to buy a fitting and some tubing for the run off water to go somewhere.

After homebrewing for almost a year, I finally decided to invest in a wort chiller. I found this one on amazon from learntobrew at a good price, and am very happy with how quickly it cools down my beer from boiling to yeast pitching temps. I typically boil 2+ gallons of wort which used to take several hours to cool down, even after adding the additional water to bring up to a 5 gallon batch of beer. This chiller will bring my 2 gallons down to pitching temps within 10 minutes. Very happy with this product.
