I've had the thermometer in my tank for a couple of weeks now. Right out of the box, it was easy to set up. It comes with a really long cord on the temp probe, which for me is a little excessive. But there are two suction cups to help with cord management. So, you can position the probe exactly where you need it. Beyond that, it's just a basic thermometer, which is just what I wanted. I was tired of watching my little LCD gauge slowly peel off the side of the aquarium, and this is the perfect affordable solution. The other benefit of the portable nature and the long cord is that I can test the temp of any water I'm putting in the tank. It's often too cold or too hot coming out of the faucet; now I can get it just right before I do my water changes. I can't speak to its accuracy, because I don't have another to compare to, but it seems about right. All in all, a good purchase.

I've had it for a month now in my tank, and the readings match almost exactly with the temperature I set in my heater; unless both are wrong, the reading is very precise! I still have to test using another thermometer, but just to make sure;So far the batteries are working fine and no sign of wearing out; and you can always turn it off whenever you want; I turn it on only when I want to know the temperature, and then turn it off again; this will save you lots of batteries in the long run;Definitely better than those "temperature stickers" that we can never tell what the real temperature is, and all this for a very reasonable price!!

I am back to get 2 more of these.. not because they don't work, but because I want them in all 3 of my tanks. I've used the glass bobber style for year and years, but this one is just as accurate, and much easier to read. The only drawback is I find the suction cup on the back of the read out unit to be a little difficult to get onto the unit.Update.. Since this post out of the ones I have none still work. They seem to get a short and blink on and off after about 2 months. I went back to the suction cup / magnet hang on type until a later date when I can get a reef controller for my tanks.

I have a new 90gal SW reef tank with a 50gal sump set up. I needed a digital thermometer that could be reliable, at the same time not break the bank, since my eventual live stock need to be in a certain tempature range. After reading several reviews of the Coralife Digital Thermometer from various vendors, I was a bit nervous in purchasing since some of the reviews reflected inaccurate temp readings....some complaining of even being several degrees off!!..eeek. Since they were rather inexpensive and I was on a limited budget, I went ahead and purchased 2 of them to compare and also have a 'fail-safe' set up. I also have a removable digital thermometer already at home in which I have been using and is accurate (tested) to The delivery was fast from time of order. The CDT came with an attached probe, both of which had suction cups for easy/flexible placement. I placed them in the same area of the sump to see what reading I would get....and to my suprise, they both read exactly the same!!! I compared to my tested removable themometer which indicated that they were reading about 0.5 deg F cooler....which is reasonably managable. This is the only reason I am giving them 4 and not 5 stars.

I purchased this digital "externally mounted" aquarium thermometer after my fish broke the fifth traditional glass thermometer that I typically affixed with a suction cup inside my tank. This inexpensive thermometer seems to be extremely accurate, and can be placed on a side of the aquarium out of sight. Another benefit -- and unlike traditional glass thermometers with a red strip temperature indicator -- the temperature displayed on the front face to the tenth of a degree is very easy to read when it's switched "on."I'm not sure how long the included watch battery will last, but I generally only turn it on when I want to check the tank's temperature. After owning it for about a month, I'm very pleased with this purchase that seems to be safe from being smashed by my overly active fish. Seems to be a well-made, quality product at a good price (except for the shipping charge, of course).

I have no problem with the retailer I purchased the thermometer from. What I do have a problem with is that I have several similar products, digital thermometers with probes like this one, and several other types of thermometers that all agree within a few tenths of a degree. This one is off by as much as 5 degrees at any given time. It reads lower than the real temperature when the real temperature is under 70 F. It reads higher than real temperature as you go above 70. Perhaps this is a problem with the C to F conversion? I don't know. What I do know is that a temperature probe for terrariums or vivariums, whatever, should not be made of black plastic. That's the worst color and the wrong material. The probe should be reflective or white. Not flat black. If you're looking to save money, Do yourself a favor and spend a bit more for a better value.

At first I was worried about the quality and if i would have to change the batteries frequently and had it for some time now and I do forgets to turn it off sometimes. But the small battery does seem to have a good life span for its. It is very simple to install just put in the sensor into the water and place the display were every please you would like it and you're done. it does have a very good length of cord for the sensor the only thing I did dislike is that you have to hold the power button for 5sec before it turns off. But it's a minor thing and i do not know if it's fully waterproof but there has been sometimes where I have Spilled some water water and it still works. One other thing I would like to see on it is the backlight to display in the night.

I'm very pleased with this product. I bought 4 of them. Exceptionally accurate to within a degree either way. Price is obviously very attractive. I've left them turned on all the time. Doesn't seem to be a heavy drain on the battery at all.

Received today and placed it in my tank immediately. It shows accurate readings. The only problem I have is that this thermometer doesn't stay put on my tank. The suction cup seems rather weak.

Pretty good thermometer, reads the same as my others so it must be accurate. Only downside is it has a weird hole in the back for what looks like to fit a screw head for mounting it, the suction cup end doesn't fit inside of it. Chord seems frail. It's ok for the price though.
