I bought one for my wife and another for my 93-yr-old father (yep, still drives). This pump allows the desired tire pressure to be set so that the pump shuts off automatically once tire pressure reaches set pressure. (preset display can be set to one of THREE units of measure, so PSI -pound per square inch has to be chosen 1st, then set the desired pressure)Second convenience is that there is no tedious screwing the hose to the valve stem; it locks onto the stem with a lever. Arthritic hands can't manipulate small stuff quickly, so some air pressure is lost when trying to unscrew some other type connections. The third thing is both a real advantage. It does not require a cigarette lighter outlet in the car, or the long cord to get power to the pump; it uses a Dewalt 20 volt rechargeable battery. Convenient, but this could be a problem if the owner does not monitor battery condition. I swap in a fully charged battery at every oil change. There IS a cigarette-lighter cord as a backup power supply (Belt AND suspenders!)

This tire inflater works well.It accepts a Dewalt 20V Max battery. The battery fits really tight.I actually thought that it wouldn’t fit the first time that I tried snapping it into place. If you don’t remove the battery when you’re finished using the inflator, the battery will be dead the next time, even if you turn off the unit.Other than that it’s worth the price.

We ordered this to take on road trips in case of a flat tire. It does the job, and will inflate a tire, tube, or ball, but we had a really difficult time getting it to work the first time. I'm not sure what we were doing wrong, but it kept shutting off after a couple of seconds. I wonder if maybe the battery isn't making the best connection? Anyway, we eventually got it to work and it did the job. It would work in a pinch, but I have a feeling we are going to be having battery issues. It doesn't hold a charge for very long, and if you leave the battery attached while it is not in use, it drains the battery. So don't store it in your car with the battery attached and expect to have a fully charged air pump the next time you have a flat. I'm not certain it is worth almost $60.

The compressor kept shutting off even when I had someone holding/ pressing the cigarette lighter connector. I sent it back and got the Dewalt ($103.00) and am very happy with it.

CATEGORICAL GRADINGPresentation/Packaging: BQuality/Craftsmanship/Materials: BPrice/Value/Worth: BFunctionality/Versatility: AInstructions/Ease-of-Use/Comfort: BMarketing vs Reality: AUtility Grade (how useful it will be to me):A(Where “C†= Average)Current offered price: $56.99COMMENTS: I had previously ordered 2 or 3 iterations of other inflators that had the battery encased and touted LCD displays with auto shutoffs. I acquired the so my kids would have hem in their cars and at the apartments for their cars and bicycles. Unfortunately, they never worked all that well from the start - they take an inordinate amount of tine to top off an auto time (say 2-5 PSI). One refused to take a charge just 4-5 months after purchase. I just wanted something that blew air at a decent pressure (bike tires got to 70-120 PSI). This off-brand that uses Dewalt 20V batteries fits the bill. The display is clear and bright. It is easy to set the desired pressure and units preference. Engage the pump and it stops when it reaches the desired pressure. Unlike some of the contained units, one does not have to set a higher than desired target in order to obtain the desired pressure. It has a convenient LED light and since it is shaped as it is and has a long hose, it should be easy to set on the ground when inflating. I like that it has a removable battery so it can be taking in to charge or the battery can be switched out for a charged on if you have multiple DeWalt batteries. My only complaint, is that the valve lock is a bit difficult to lock at certain angles. I am quite please with this unit and will remain so as long as it proves durable.*PRECISE RATING: 4RECOMMENDATION: Buy it.(As always, I will report back if there are any durability or performance issues with additional use.)PHOTO INFO (photos are loaded in order, but may be rearranged when finally posted):1) Packaging2) Contents3) Unit as delivered4) Label peeling off5) Display of initial tire pressureI hope you found something informative and useful in this review. Thank you for taking the time to read it. Good luck with your decision.*My rating scale:5 = definitely buy again, happy to have it (exceptional in several characteristics,)4 = probably buy again (decent job of doing what I need, excels in one or two characteristics)3 = perhaps buy again after researching options (functions OK, looks OK, decent quality, average life expectancy but no outstanding characteristics) (in other words, average)2 = would not buy again (low end/below average merchandise and/or service, but not totally worthless)1 = sorry I bought it the first time (poor performance in several characteristics, no redeeming characteristics)
