12/4/24-after about 8 years, the mat went caput. Not sure if 8 years is a good long time for a product like this but thought I would share an update. Lasted from 1/16/16-12/4/24.2/6/22 update: This mat still works although I have managed to bring the feral cats into the house. I still put out the mat to melt the snow. Still works after 5+ years.Works really well. My feral cats stay warm on it, too!

Bought this for our back patio in Alaska, both to melt the snow and give the dogs a warm place to rest their bottoms at the door during potty breaks.Overall the mat is very sturdy. When compared to other heated mats made by competition, it's a lot heavier and thicker. It's thoughtfully designed with a surface that has grip as well.Regarding function, it worked flawlessly for us. It melted the snow at a reasonable rate, and heated up well enough for me to step outside on a winter day barefooted. Ah. That's nice. The mutts loved it too.The only downfall this thing has is that the heated surface area of the mat terminates somewhere around 1.5-2" from the edge of the matt, so you're losing a significant amount of heated surface area on every side. That wasn't made clear in the product listing.In the end, that lost warm space means a lot to my toes and my dogs' bottoms, and we ended up having to order a much more expensive, much larger mat from the competition.I'm rating it 4 stars for the somewhat unclear advertising. It works well for what it is, but I wasted my money on it. The advertised measurements should include a measurement of actual heated surface as well. Shame on me for not doing more research before buying.

Update, the seller is not backing their product. They said I am outside of the 30days since I purchased. IT DOES NOT WORK. I only used recently with colder and snowy weather. It worked great for 2 months and just stop heating up. But more upsetting is the lack of customer service. DON'T BUY.So I purchased this a couple of months ago in expectation for a snowy winter. I have on for 2 snow storms and it worked mostly as described.It gets just warm enough to melt the snow/sleet when it works. But it’s snowy now and is not warm at all.I liked it when it worked 2 times but 3rd time this year and it’s not working.I have messaged the seller requesting a working product and/or a refund. If customer service is good, I will change my rating to a 4 but if I get no response then I will be lowering.

This does a good job with snow and ice, but mine stopped working after the first year. The company replaced it at no charge whatsoever (they covered shipping both ways). It's worked fine since then.

When I first got this mat I was delighted. I have a section of my deck that is just treacherous for forming a patch of ice & this was the perfect size and kept it melted off. However, within only a couple of weeks I noticed it wasn't very efficient anymore. We had extremely cold weather & it just couldn't keep up. I was really rooting for it to be a success, but if I invest this much money there are other things to try. Had this worked, it would have been perfect.

We purchased this to place over wood so our Lab can get up the stairs. It does a great job of melting snow and keeping a dry area for her to walk up and down on. Very durable.

Love these mats. The packaging was horrible. One box completely destroyed and the other box partially destroyed. I hope they both work.

The mat worked well while it worked. I bought this mat for last years winter snows but when I setup the mat for this season it did not work. Apparently the mat has developed a short because the switch keeps tripping. I can't believe the quality is so poor that it only lasted 1 season. I am very disappointed. I would not recommend this product ever!!!Update!!!! I bought a second mat this november 2016 to replace the 1 season failure from last winter. It worked for the first snowfall but the second snowfall, which happened February 6th ( 6 days after the return date of Jan. 31, 2017 ) it totally failed to work. This time no tripping of the switch. Just no melting. This product should not be sold. Shame on me for buying a second mat and expecting a better experience.

UPDATE: Purchased a year ago in Nov. Loved it. Stored properly and it worked for a month. It is now on, the light says, but the mat is cold. No idea who to contact as support window has closed.Supposed to be a Christmas gift. But with an early snow fall I couldn't wait lol. Very impressed. Received 20 cm of snow. Was able to stand on mat and shovel without tamping down snow. Also then moved mat around to clear a larger area. Melts snow and ice underneath so it's not slippery. Will definitely be looking to purchase another. Maybe larger.

It’s the size of a large doormat by the heat zone only run to with 3inches to the edges. Not as hot as you might think but it works well.

The mat was used to stop ice collecting near the front door.It worked a few days although it wasn’t very warm but was good enough.I didn’t like that the mat curled up on both ends to the point it was either slip on ice or trip on the mat but in the end it just stopped heating so my decision to return it was easy.
