I have not been able to use it crabbing as yet but I am familiar with crab snares of this type and the quality and value of this kit is very good. The kit also comes with a shell measurement jig, lead weights, extra snares, and a finger glove for protection when using a hand line. The bait cage is easily loaded through a spring hinged trap door and is pre-rigged with snares. Overall, this kit is ready to go and all you need to supply is line, bait, and some salt water to crab in.

These snares come with 8 loops; where we crab, the legal limit is 6 loops, so we cut off two of them. The cages are of thinner quality than ones we are used to, but the weights help. We did catch a few crabs with these, and for beginners these snares would be okay to start with, but the loops would have to be replaced sooner than later. There are better snares, but these are workable.

These crab snares are better built than they seem when pulled out of the box, the stainless wire is plenty stiff to resist being crushed and the spacing of the wire used for the paint cage is larger enough the crab will remain to eat but small enough that they can't just take the bait and go.The snares slide nicely and the way the leader line passes through the bait cage to the weight snap is very handy. The bait cages on these shouldn't hang up in the rocks too easily since they don't have any square corners/edges to get hooked up and they're small enough to bounce off things underwater while also being more aerodynamic than the flatter more squared snares so they shouldn't catch wind as easily and cast further out easier. The finger glove for casting will definitely be useful and save from wear and tear of my finger when using these. The crab gauge is correct for my area and will definitely be useful when out catching crab or foraging for clams. I've already got a couple of these gauges and plan to buy aluminum ones soon but it's always good to have extras around for when you have friends or kids along for the trip.I can't wait to get these out on the jetty and put them to work.

Consists of three 3†spring shuttered bait traps with heavy monofilament loops for ensnaring crabs using a hand line. A definite improvement over a baited line when you’re depending on the crab to not let go before you net it. The kit includes weights, extra loops, a measurement guide and a wrist strap. You’ll need to provide your own hand line. I’ve yet to use it with the current weather but in concept it should work well. I was initially under the impression this was a larger device so somewhat surprised when a 6†box showed up on my doorstep. Overall well made and reasonably priced.

The snares do not slide freely at all there is no way this will be catching any crabs anytime soon.

Good quality, functional, and effective. Pretty easy to use. I tested them on some large crayfish and they worked great — if they’ll catch crayfish, they’ll catch crabs and lobsters. They are fairly small, but will handle legal-sized crabs quite easily. The design is intuitive and simple to use. Good value all around.

Some assembly required in the traps. The strings are packaged separately. Wasn’t too hard to get them on, but normally they come pre attached in crab snares like this. Haven’t taken them out yet but the stings look like they will hold up well. The build quality is good and the design is as expected.

These snares are the perfect size and I like that it comes with a measuring tool. Appears to be good quality!
