Scotch-Brite Radial Bristle Brush, using our proprietary ceramic abrasive grain blended with aluminum oxide and molded, flexible bristles, provides more surface contact than wire brushes and maintains abrasive property throughout the life of the brush. Our brush removes paint, stains, adhesives, weld burns, rust, heavy oxides, and surface contaminants. The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ Bristle Brush, using patented ceramic abrasive grain blended with aluminum oxide and molded, flexible bristles provides more surface contact than wire brushes and maintains abrasive property throughout the life of the brush. The brush removes paint, stains, adhesives, weld burns, rust, heavy oxides, and surface contaminants. Under normal use, the flexible bristles remain safely in place and can achieve the desired finish using light pressure. The Scotch-Brite™ Bristle Disc is designed to last longer than wire and other abrasive discs and works well on aluminum, brass, bronze, carbon steel, cast iron, stainless steel, and other metals. Applications include general industrial, aerospace, automotive, metalworking, transportation, and automotive as well as fine detailing requirements of electronics, jewelry and woodworking industries. Ceramic abrasive grain is a ceramic mineral manufactured using a 3M™ patented process to enhance toughness and hardness of the grain. For increased performance, Scotch-Brite™ Bristle Discs feature aluminum oxide blended with ceramic abrasive grain for one of the hardest, longest-lasting minerals available. Perfect for moderate to heavy stock removal, ceramic abrasives are engineered to cut fast and handle intense heat and stress applications. Ceramic abrasive grain surpasses aluminum oxide abrasives in cut-rate, durability, and makes an excellent choice for industrial grinding and finishing applications. Scotch-Brite™ industrial abrasives are unique surface conditioning products with abrasives incorporated into non-woven nylon or synthetic fibers. Combining abrasives with the fibers creates an abrasive system that delivers consistent results for the life of the product. The open-web material runs cool and is load resistant, which keeps the abrasive minerals cutting at high performance by limiting clogging of the fibers. For more than a century, 3M has applied innovation and technology to improving our customers’ lives and supporting their business goals. Today the company, from its headquarters in St. Paul, Minnesota, serves industrial and commercial customers and consumers in nearly 200 countries. Abrasive Systems products, including a complete line of coated abrasives, microfinishing and microreplicated abrasives, and hardware accessories, provide the finishing touch for almost any surface conditioning application. The 3M brand, across thousands of products, represents consistency, superior quality, and value.

I've used a green version of this wheel that literally outlasted two sets if grinder bearings. Very effective on all metals, plastics, and even wood! Don't let the thickness hold your purchase back, it's plenty for any application. Also, I've never had a bristle fly or break even when having an accidental jam up. Have the yellow now and love it.

I bought this to replace a wire wheel on my bench grinder. Works pretty well. Cleans great. Leaves a slightly different surface condition than a standard wire. Somewhat more coarse, but on certain items I feel like I could polish it out better and quicker. I like this, also doesn't hurt as bad as a wire.

I'm not sure which I like better, this or the good old fashioned wire ones. BUT I will say this is miles safer than the old school wires wheels. And you don't end up with acupuncture bullet needles in you when you're done using it either. Wire is still best for cleaning bolt threads but I think they're neck & neck in everything else. If your finger accidentally touches it when you're working, a wire one will remove skin where this one will not without some serious effort or intent. I think this is the best gritt for cleaning up cut stock before welding seams or edges, etc. I put mine on a pedestal buffer and it's nice to hit parts weith it with this and move on to welding. I haven't had mine that long, so I'm not sure how it compares for durability to wire wheels yet - apples & oranges really. I would've given it five stars, but the adapter is lacking in the 3 I have purchased so far. I had to shim it with a smaller washers and then larger washers over that to get a good grip on it when I tightened the shafts nut. Otherwise it would free spin under pressure or vibrate too much when spinning. It's not a deal breaker but I shouldn't have to do that. Once I did, it ran very quietly. I bought one of another gritt also, and it was the same way. It's still a great tool in the shop. I'm older and I do dumb things sometimes so this gives me peace of mind that I won't be leaving part of my knuckles on this one anytime soon. Try it, you'll like it.

The cost for what it does is Questionable but cleans up nicely with no sparks.
