I was planning to make these myself because they are ridiculously priced for what amounts to a metal cover plate with an odd shaped hole in it. However, time ran out, the inspector was coming and I wanted to have them in place. I have to admit that they are well made, fit nicely, and look nice. Amazon’s prices were better than any electrical supply house by a factor of 2-3, they arrived quickly and I can now move on to the next project.

I left my whole house surge suppressor view-able in my wall mounted to my load center and was wondering about a cover. Noticed in the installation instructions, that I usually don't read, that there was a cover available. Had a part number, looked at Amazon, and there it was. Too pricey I think but still the only thing that would fit. So I am very happy. I was pleasantly surprised to see the quality of the cover being painted and of steel. Nice. Makes the price more understandable.

It works and my Eaton Ultra Surge looks sharp as a recessed unit above my main panel. But, it's pricey for what you get and there has to be a better way for this plate to secure the Eaton Ultra Surge within the wall. It comes with 2 little screws but the surge until still has wiggle room in the wall. You have to cut out enough drywall to get the surge protector in the wall. So we put a piece of double sided tape on the back edge of the plate and it looks great! Its must have if you want a flush, recessed surge protector on your wall.

I sent this back it will not work for me at all a really poor design. It is BARELY larger than the Ultra maybe 1/4 inch on the sides unless you cut the screw holes off the surge protector as some suggest (voids any warranty im sure) and why would you cut a brand new item???? so with this plate, you have near ZERO room for error in your drywall cut and there are no provisions for using this flush mounting plate to secure your surge protector to the drywall and if you instal under your load center using a knock out the plate is in the way of the panel front unless you notch the panel front (you cant do that dont do that!!!! ) a very poor design, it is a pretty expensive piece of metal about the size of a double box switch plate cover and is useless to mount the surge protector as it is made. Also, as others have said, the provided screws to attach the plate to the surge protector are WAY to short to use unless your mounting under / side of your load center puts the surge protector exactly flush with the drywall the screws are less than 1/2 inch long most drywall is about 1/2 or 5/8 inch thick so again, like others have said you have near zero room for error. If you need a recessed mount the Eaton is pretty hard to make work and this mounting plate is not a great solution at all it more of a cover than a plate.

This is only a plate that attaches to the surge protector. There is no way for it to help with mounting the unit flush with drywall. I guess you have to magically mount the unit behind the drywall at the exact depth for this $32 plate to work. For the cost of the unit and plate, one would expect better engineering.
