I purchased this reel after my 15+ year old abu Garcia spinner broke, so needless to say I was behind the times of modern reel technology. Comparing this reel to that one is night and day.To start off, the reel is as beautiful as a fishing reel can be, with an opalescent purple color befitting the regal name. It is very lightweight, with a carbon resin body instead of steel like my old reel.Reeling in your line is an absolute pleasure; with 10 ball bearings and Daiwa's proprietary airdrive rotor, it's hard to beat the smoothness at this price point.The reel is offered in several sizes. I ordered the 3000, which seems to be a good, all round size for trout, bass, etc. However, if you are looking for a reel for your ultralight build, consider the 1000 size for its blend of light weight, smoothness and tech at a competitive price point. Likewise, the reel is offered at up to a 6000 size for those targeting salmon and steelhead regularly.I have only had the pleasure of fishing with this reel about 10 times so far, but part of that was a 2 day lake trip where I fished with it all day. The reel is as easy to use as any other, and features a simple dial on top to set your drag. It functions same as any other spinnner, with a switch up front to allow rotation in both directions, a standard bail, and standard drag dial, but the performance is where the reel really shines. Drag is easy to set on the fly or in the middle of a fight (though not as simple as a baitcaster).If you are looking for an excellent all around reel, you cannot go wrong with daiwa regal Lt. It is my new go to reel for lake and river fishing.

Super smooth quiet and works great. Caught a 34 inch redfish on first trip today with no problem. I am 65 years old and used Shimano reels all my life. These are so much smoother and balanced. Well worth every penny. Ordered a second one tonight.

Really smooth reel and cast well. I have caught about 40 fish on it so far and no issues at all. The price would good and I have used it all day without any fatigue. Well balanced. It does have a purple-ish tint which I am not crazy about but not to me that is insignificant.

I have a slightly older model of this spinning reel and it is by far my favorite. I bought this one for my brother in law as a Christmas gift since he had previously tried mine and really liked it. Not only is this reel incredible, the price is very reasonable. I see myself buying another one in the future.

I have 2 of these and I love the smoothness of the casts.I have a smaller version on my St Croix panfish rod and this 25 series on my St Croix Avid.

Every once in a while the drag acts up. Normally if I take it apart and put it back together it solves the problem. Good for the price

I tried the jdm legalis at first, then tried this. 20$ difference or so and I really couldn’t tell the difference. I have 2 of the regals now, work great. Really can’t be daiwa spinning reels for the money.

The reel is okay. Nice finish on it; but it's not very smooth. Can't complain too much for the price. You get what you pay for.I Just wish the listing was more specific. The listing showed a picture of a 2500 size reel which is what I expected to receive. A 2000 size is what showed up instead. No size was specified in the listing. But it will get the job done so I'll just keep it.

This is a really nice reel, BUT..... I absolutely HATE the T shaped handle. I orderd the 2500 and expected it to have the regular handle but its got the rubber T shaped one. Ive been using it and trying to get used to it but .. its still not that great in my books and holds on to dust and dirt like crazy and doesn't feel good after while fishing with it. I'll have to look into getting another handle.
