I am an abide fisher. I was kinda worried it would just be a real cheap reel but I was very surprised. It works as good if not better than some of the $100 reels I have.

It's very cheaply made. I bought them thinking I can just use them for surf fishing but I can't bring myself to keep them.I don't like reels with too much anti reverse. If you spent a little more you can get much better reel out there.

I paired a 3000 size reel with a collapsible pole from the same manufacturer. The reel came out of the box and my immediate feeling was "this feels cheap". Many of the parts are plastic but coated with chrome-like paint so they look like metal. Sharp edges could be felt on many of the components which adds to the cheap feeling. We did take it fishing and it did work as we caught a load of panfish. I ended up switching it off the collapsible rod to a shorter 6' 6" rod. The 3000 is a bit big for that rod but it did feel better without the bulky collapsible rod.One thing I liked at first was the way the handle collapses. Instead of having to unscrew the handle there is a press button collapse. That seemed like a neat time saver to collapse the handle for storage in a rod bag or just to keep it out of the way, but in practice the handle feels like it is going to collapse all the time as the button mechanism causes a wiggle in the handle. The handle didn't collapse while using it but the feeling that it may added to the over all feeling.Cheap feeling aside we did catch plenty of fish on it and it didn't end up with any line messes. The bail works well and reeling is smooth. There is a reverse switch which allows the reel to move freely in either direction.
