I try to resist purchasing specific tools like this, but in this case, I think it was warranted. This really helped me get a cartridge out of a faucet that might not have gone well without it. Very useful for that first job and surprisingly enough, I needed to use it a second time. Keeping this in my specialty tools section.

It does the job. As some of the reviewers have said the material strength of the jaws is very low. Mine broke one tooth. Although, I believe it was my fault expecting it to handle the pressure I was putting on it. I believe you really need to know how to work the tool. The best thing to do is use the plastic adapter supplied with the cartridge first, use a wrench to wiggle the cartridge slowly back and forth using the wrench and the plastic adapter.The cartridge will start moving. Keep doing back and forth and the cartridge will about 1/8" out. Once the cartridge frees up and is out of the valve lip, remove the plastic adapter and use this tool. To use this tool, move the big nut in towards the handle bar, put the tool teeth on the cartridge, screw in the tool's screw using a screw driver, when the screw is all the way in tighten the big nut towards the cartridge. The threads on the cartridge will allow you to pull using this tool. You still have to wiggle it back and forth to free up the cartridge. I removed two stuck cartridges (22 years old) using this tool. Functionally, this is a copy of Moen tool. I believe the 1 star reviewers may not be using it correctly.

This tool is a must to make pulling the valve out. Don’t be cheap, make your life easier and get it. It’s made of metal and is very sturdy!

requires assesory pliers/wrench as the screw does not pull it clear of the faucet. Don't know how it works on newer units

The Danco cartridge puller is made of high quality materials. Very nice tool for the price. It did a great job pulling out a corroded Moen 1225 cartridge that was originally installed in my shower over 30 years ago. The tool made easy work out of a challenging task.

Very light material compared to my other puller.. but it worked well. I broke my other cartridge pulling it out with my other cartridge puller that was meant for a different cartridge so I wanted to get this one that was meant for my cartridge so I didn't break it and spend hours trying to drill out my cartridge being careful to not hit any pipe. I got the cartridge half out and broke it again with this one but that was my own fault because I started to put pressure from side to side instead of pulling straight out. . But having it half out only took a couple mins to destroy and pull out the old cartridge. So I would say this is worth buying just don't push side to side.

Excellent tool to have in your toolbox for Moen faucets. Had a cartridge failing on a tub faucet tried pulling it out with pliers with no luck.Figured with tax a plumber for materials and labour would be over $100 so i watched some YouTube videos and thought with this tool I was up for the challenge.Tool made all the difference and pulled the old cartridge out no problem and probably saved myself fifty dollars minimum.
