I searched far and wide for the perfect solar post caps for my new deck. I read the comments on many different solar post caps. A lot of mixed reviews, some ok, some not too good, some really bad. Then I came across these. At first glance, I really liked the look. I liked the fact that they don't have a bezel that's supposed to fit snugly around the 4x4 post but, in most cases, doesn't. These are more free mounted on top of the post, very cool, I like that. Sleek and simple. Many of the reviews of these talk about the consistent functionality. These have a great track record of working as expected out of the box. After looking over the customer pics, I decided, these are the one's. I bought 4 two packs. Every single one worked on the first night. Now, I did pre-charge the batteries but, only because I didn't want to wait the suggested two days of initial charging to turn them on. I'm only a few days in now but, they are working perfect. As soon as it gets dark out, they light up and as soon as it gets light out, they go dark and start charging. I got up this morning to let the cat out around 5am, still somewhat dark out, and they were all still shining bright, THAT'S 9 HOURS!!!. They don't light up like a flood-light but, that's fine with me. If you're looking for that, just buy a flood-light, seriously. They are great ambient lighting to find your way in the dark or just have in the background. Also, the price is very good. If you do your homework, you'll see what I mean. If you've been looking for solar caps for your 4x4 posts, I highly suggest getting these. At least try them out and decide for yourself!

Solid product. Installed very easily and comes with 3 different sized base-plates for whichever square post you have. It's made very well, but of all plastic/vinyl so you are trading a slightly cheaper look for greater durability (it's not gonna rust or need repainting or anything). The battery seems to be holding out great, and the light shines well past midnight each night. The lightbulb itself is a slight disappointment. Despite being pretty bright, the enclosure and glass don't disperse the light well. Specific to my need, I mounted it on top of a post that holds a showerhead for outdoor rinsing. Instead of lighting the area that needs it, it just provides a "bright star" on top of the post that helps me find the post in the dark, but somehow doesn't illuminate what I'm doing back on the ground. So realize that it is an accent light, not exactly a light light. All considered, though, it is well-designed and very fairly priced.

Our back gate is fairly far away from the house and it's dark back there at night. I wanted something solar and automatic on/off and these appeared to be a perfect solution.Our white vinyl fence is built with 5x5 uprights. The gates are reinforced with wooden 4x4s (see pics). The light base was a perfect fit over the 5x5 post. The color was a near perfect match as well.However the included screws were not long enough to reach down to the 4x4. This wasn't a problem, I used some longer wood screws and anchored them down. Best to enlarge the holes in the lamp base with a drill bit if you're going to use larger screws.Pro tip - Before assembling the lights, I gave all of the inner electronics a spritz of Strike Hold protectant and wiped out the excess. Strike Hold is marketed as a gun lube and it does a good job of that, but where it really shines is in water proofing electronics. Do a search for their videos on YouTube and you'll see incandescent bulbs and corded electric drills operating while submerged in water. The stuff is amazing. It will almost certainly extend the lifespan of any electronics exposed to the elements.So anyway, I switched the lights to "on" and assembled them and waited for dark.The instructions say to charge them for two days before use. Forget all that. They were at least partially charged when I got them and then they got a couple of hours of sun the day I installed them. They burned brightly all night until dawn. And they have continued to do so every night since. They aren't floodlight bright but they certainly generate enough light to see the gate, the latch and the walkway.As with everything, time will tell on longevity but for now, 5 stars for sure. Great bang for the buck and they look like they were made for the fence.

A complete waste of my money. It lasted for just 20 days before it stopped working. A typical Chinese light assembly priced exorbitantly. When I opened up the assembly to see for any loose wiring , I found even the screws are missing inside the assembly. Extremely disappointed.

I bought two of these. One was fully charged and the other was flat. A quick swap of the batteries proved a flat battery was the issue.They were very easy to install with the screws provided. Surprisingly bright and stayed lit throughout the last night of winter. Only potential issue is battery replacement for the 3.2v AA cell, not a widely available size so could be difficult to find. The supplier says they are available on their website but a quick check showed they were out of stock.Update:Both lights have failed after one year. I assume the batteries are no longer working.

Great product. I would definitely buy again. They look great, punch out a decent amount of light.
