A long time ago, in a lifetime far away, I was in the Army. I was a Combat Engineer. It was there I learned the advantage that some ropes, pulleys, and rigging could provide. Mechanical advantage is a great force multiplier.I do not mountain climb or do anything you would expect with this and other hardware. I am currently tearing apart a porch that was smashed under a tree felled in a storm. It can’t be rebuilt until it is cleared. This Carabiner is used to connect the straps I wrap around the debris so it can be pulled clear with pulleys and a Capstan Winch. Yes. I am abusing this equipment and using it how it is not designed. However this Carabiner connected to the Snatch Block and had in excess of 8,000 pounds of force on it and it held firm. I can’t say exactly how much, but before I added the snatch block the 8,000 limit of my rigging did not pull the debris clear. The winch overheated and safety cut out to protect it. Once I added the snatch block it moved the debris clear so I could continue breaking it up to be transported to the dump.It was within the reported strength of the Carabiner so I felt confident it would hold. I liked it so much I just ordered another one.I can say it is easy to use, strong, and quite useful to me. Even though as old as I am mountain climbing isn’t on my list of activities. It should hold up to what you plan on doing with it.

I really like this locking carabiner. I've got a couple of them now. We just recently limbed a couple of huge 70foot pine trees and these came in extremely handy. One I used on my climbing gear since it's larger and easier to manage than the smaller one I had on my harness previously. The other we used as a lock for the ropes when lowering the limbs around a house. We had several chunks of tree that were hundreds of pounds easily and possibly a few that were even heavier. It will hold weight. I can't say how much for sure, but it did an amazing job with the logs we were taking care of. I'm quite happy to own these.

I'm an older guy but I'm gonna climb trees just a little bit to cut some branches down and I trust this to be safe. I'm a little disappointing with one of them the spring loaded action is really stiff with one. But I imagine it will break in, hopefully before it breaks me ;)

In my youth I was an avid climber and own many aluminum carabiners. Through the years I have started using them on the farm for various tasks and the aluminum just doesn't hold up to heavy duty use. These carabiners are MUCH more suited for pulling stumps, dragging logs, towing equipment, etc. Twice the rating of Al, and much more resistant to abrasion. So far the coating has held up to corrosion very well. Its some sort of galvanization like a Grade-8 bolt, or G-80 chain. The auto-locking mechanism is Awesome! Easy to use one handed even when wearing gloves. Rating is clearly visible on the side and includes a test card. (though this doesn't mean much)Best Steel carabiners I have used!

This is the carabiner you would grab if your pet bison wants to take up rock climbing. It is a massive piece of steel and while I did use it while belaying people while rock climbing, it quickly proved too heavy to carry around. It's serious overkill for indoor or outdoor rock climbing. I have my doubts it would get through airport security because of its size it's make a good brass-knuckle equivalent! The moving parts move smoothly and the locking parts lock properly. Now I plan on using it to hang a climbing rope from a tree in the backyard.

Got it for my child's sensory swing. The friction would cause the other brands to wear out in a short time frame. Somehow the clasp kept popping open causing the whole swing to fall (child and all). Otherwise good product as far as material. Just not for swinging.
