This is a perfect mail slot in black, which is difficult to find. It's well made. It's spring loaded. Almost too much though, with no good edge to grab in order to lift it. No complaints from the mail carriers so far.

My husband and I are thrilled with our new mail slot! Now our mail gets delivered directly into our home through our front door, where it stays safe and dry, and there's no more worrying mail theft (or worse yet, identity theft due to stolen mail from our previously unsecured letter box). Plus, there's the added advantage of not having to stop the mail when we go away -- and it's all there waiting for us upon our return. We only regret what took us so long to get around to doing this.POST NOTE: Not all municipalities allow this, and the USPS has strict regulations about how many inches (minimum & maximum) from the ground the slot must be in order to receive your mail this way. So check the USPS website BEFORE installing the slot in the door.

This item is sturdy and comes with matching screws..The only adjustment I did was disconnect 1 of the 2 springs that hold flap down as it was firmly held down. After disconnecting 1 of the springs it made the flap pressure reasonable to lift. The disconnected spring is still under flap and could be engaged again if the other spring broke. Other reviews complained of the flap pressure problem.

Works great! I unhooked the springs, too much tension. It's for an interior office wood door.The bottom edge of door is sharp , so I filed and sanded it.

This was in perfect condition, and looks great. But, the sides are cut such that there is a gap on each side of the flap. My old one was not like that. This will allow the leakage of a lot more air.Also, the flap has two springs to hold the door closed. That is good, but they are very tight and with the narrow lip (edge at the bottom), it was very hard to open. I got a needlenose plier and was able to release one spring and it is now easier to open, BUT, it no longer pulls the door fully down on the unsprung side, allowing for even more air leakage.This really does not neet to be clamped so tight. Or needs a pull tab. I will experiment with bending the spring tab to see if I can get both springs on but with far less force on the flap.

Exactly what I was looking for to replace the ancient gold mail slot in our house. This thing was easy to install and looks freakin awesome.
