I have had this can opener for awhile and I'm very happy with it. I have arthritis in my hands and this works well for me. My daughter asked me where I got it and I told her. She's a fan too. Seems very sturdy and well made.

I do not have much use for can openers and that is why I was willing to put up with my quirky electric can opener. I couldn't find a replacement electric that had great reviews and looked as nice on the counter. I considered a handheld for a long time, but was hesitant, because I was afraid that I would not be strong enough to use it. I have back issues that the slightest little pressure can sometimes cause a world of hurt and also dealing with a hand that I had crushed most of the bone in that healed well, but can be acutely painful at times. I'm also a lefty, uncoordinated as all get out and was not sure if this would work for me. Previous experience years ago with those little skinny ones with a butterfly turn knob had been a disaster. The low price and all the positive reviews convinced me to order the EZ-DUZ-IT Deluxe Can OPener with Black Grips. I am so glad that I did. This piece is a piece that is built to last, an all too rare commodity nowadays. It is a weighty piece without being cumbersome. It fits well even into my small "fun size" hands. It takes little effort to complete the job. I am thoroughly impressed with this can opener. I received the can opener after having a flare up with my hand. Although I was not experiencing the acute pain I had, my hand was still fragile and sore. I was able to open a can with minimal additional discomfort. I do not believe that any other can opener would have produced any better result. I definitely know that it was less effort and pain than using the electric can opener I had. I was so impressed with the EZ-DUZ-IT after the first test use that I immediately unplugged my electric & chucked it in the trash. I have the EZ-DUZ-IT for awhile, but only used it a handful of times. It washes up well by hand or in the dishwasher. There have been a few occasions where I had to cease cooking and get off my feet right away, which led to the EZ-DUZ-IT not being cleaned by hand right away and that was okay. Everything stays really clean. More so than with the electrics. It is a breeze to clean. I threw it in the dishwasher to see how the metals would react and if it would hamper the ease in which it performed. Happy to say it still works brill! I would have no hesitation to throw in the dishwasher, but there really isn't any need, as this cuts smoothly and cleanly.I can highly recommend this to any and all, but especially to those who may suffer from arthritis or limited mobility/dexterity in their hands. This is as good as you are going to get. I can say in all honesty that the EZ-DUZ-IT would still be my number 1 pick over a not so quirky electric opener. This may seem silly to many of you reading, but for those with less than perfect health it makes sense.... you don't even have to lift the can up! Yes, sometimes even lifting an average size tin can send someone in a world of hurt. With the electric you have to lift your can and gosh forbid if it is a family size can of anything, which can be plain awkward no matter what your health is. With the EZ-DUZ-IT I see no need for an electric, unless you are going to be opening copious amounts of cans all at one time. I couldn't be more thrilled. Plan on purchasing more for gifts and my emergency kit... I never want to be without my EZ-DUZ-IT!

No matter how mundane the function, a well made product ought to be given recognition. If you’re in the market to purchase a new manual can opener the you’ve probably noticed how low the bar has gotten as far as build quality. Most are made mainly from plastic and have plastic knobs questionably attached to metal gears. These little contraptions get put under some pretty big forces and it’s surprising to see most can openers with such weak connections in critical areas. It’s like they are built for only very occasional use, not someone who depends on them regularly. And to make things worse, it seems like all the brands in stores are produced from the same manufacturer and include all the same weaknesses.I can confidently say we have found our go to can opener in the EZ-DUZ-IT! It checks all the boxes and opens cans too! It just feels solid, even if the cutter mechanism didn’t perfectly and smoothly slice the lid, you could probably just smash the can open with it and it’d be just fine. But it DOES perfectly and smoothly slice the lid open so no need to try smashing. There’s not one bit of plastic in this thing aside from the plasti-dip type handle. It’s all metal on metal opening something metal, makes sense right? It’s made in the USA so it’s a bit expensive but that just means you know it can’t be cheaply made and if it didn’t work well it’d just be a more expensive version of every other junk can opener. Who’d buy that?So who should by this? Anyone who opens cans of course. But also anyone tired of buying things that always break at critical moments such as while trying to feed ever impatient offspring. Seriously this may well be the last can opener we’ll need to buy, and it makes me a bit sad because I wish I could do more to support this company, but who really needs more than one can opener and they don’t make the most exciting Christmas gift (unless that someone really appreciates well made mundane products like me) Anyways that’s my motive for writing this review, because I want to support the company who decided to produce quality over quantity and thats the kind of world I’d like to live in.Vote with your dollars people! This has my vote.
