I just bought the Dewalt battery impact drill. I wanted the chuck to go with it for standard drills and holes saws. I went on line, found this, and bought it. I couldn't get it to work properly, so I read the directions. Please don't tell anybody. I learned that this chuck is designed specifically for an impact drill. I was trying to install bits like it was a conventional chuck. Turns out, the impact function of the drill activates the clamping mechanism in the chuck. It works really well! I recommend this.

The chuck is nice quality for the price. It does however wobble a bit. Not the chuck holding the bit, but the design of the impact. The impact holds the chuck itself loosely. When you hold a screwdriver bit it will wobble or move a bit in the impact...well that will be the same for the chuck. It's not that bad. It just won't be as rigid as an actual drill. It works great in a pinch if you are only drilling a few holes. If you have a lot of holes to drill just use a normal drill.

The instructions say to insert the bit, hold the chuck and then let it ratchet a few times when tightening. I did that, but the drill bit still likes to pop out anyway. Annoying, but not a deal breaker. I love being able to use any drill bit with my battery powered drill.

Drill bIt is stuck in chuck. Does not want to release it.Purchased this for several reasons:1) I did not have one and love tools;2) needed to poke about 6 holes in a masonry wall to mount a TV on my rear patio and my drill is about dead but I have a couple impact drivers, this would allow me to mate them to the bit;3) its a Dewalt and my tools are Dewalt, what could go wrong? The only redeeming thing is that it did the job very well. But now I can only use it with the drill bit that it is mated to. What is worse is that it is a borrowed drill bit from a neighbor. Now I need to go out and buy a drill bit to replace it.Justification for star ratings:Versatility - not very versatile if I can only use it with one drill bit (chuck will not release it).Value for money - not very valuable for the same reason as versatility. I had high hopes for this tool.Easy to use - it is very easy to use....as long as you have no plans with respect to versatility.I can not return since I can't get the drill bit out.....On a side note, if you need to drill a 3/8" diameter hole in a masonry wall and are in the Tampa Bay, FL area, let me know, I will let you use it.

SOLID - HEAVY - Very well made and most of all it's truly centered so your bit doesn't wobble - I put mine on an old Type I Craftsman drill that has wrist-breaking power so now I don't have to keep up with a chuck

I ordered this without reading the reviews. My bad for blindly buying this Dewalt chuck for my impact driver because I have always thought they make the best dedicated drill chucks. I am simply blown away that dewalt chose to simply thread the impact tool stem into the chuck. Of course it's going to unscrew from the chuck when you go to release the bit. Of course you are going to end up with bits stuck in the chuck. I now have a scratched up chuck form my vice and vicegrips from bit removal that I can't send back. This design is simply inconceivable for any chuck, much less one designed for an impact tool - the impacts will break the stem away from the chuck every time after hard enough use for the chuck jaws to clamp on the bit firmly. I honestly can't fathom how a tool with a design defect such as this even exists - how is this usable for anyone? Right now I'm letting permanent red loctite cure for a couple days, if that fails I'll either try to find a welder that will do it for a few bucks or throw it into the trashcan. To say I'm disappointed in this Dewalt product is an understatement, shocked is a better word.Update: the 271 loctite (red not blue, that isn't strong enough) works. Shouldn't have to pay $6 to make a tool function as designed, but at least there is a fix.Update: changed from 1 star to 3 stars. Once you red locktite it it works perfectly, I use my impact driver for everything haven't touched a drill since I bought this.

There are not a lot of tools that will do this out on the market, so when I came across this one by Dewalt I picked it up even though I didn't have an immediate need for it. I have a cordless drill and an impact driver, and in the past, had bought drill bits with the 1/4" hex shank so I could use them in the impact driver, and then use the drill to drive screws. This approach works but the specialty drill bits are notably more expensive and usually sold in kits, or are harder to find individually when one breaks. Now with this tool in the impact driver I can use regular drill bits and it holds them tightly with very little torque required to tighten the chuck. A great buy at practically the same price as a decent set of drill bits with the 1/4" hex shank, but with so much more versatility!

Comprei a parafusadeira de impacto e várias brocas. Porém, não verifiquei se o encaixe das brocas e so percebi quando chegaram ambos que não batia. Esse adaptador serviu bem. Contudo, me parece que a broca fica meio frouxa. Não cheguei a testar na parede
