this would make a nice first sewing box or as I will be using it, and additional sewing box elsewhere in my home. There is lots of notions, the sewing box is padded, a good size, well mounted handle and should do the trick for quite a while

If you're an old hand seamstress, this is at at best, a medium box. For example, if you tend to keep your tomato on top, the tray doesn't sit deep enough, and we all know that the bottom is for thread, snaps, buttons, scissors, and other whatnottery. The scissors are also very basic and work for thread but are so so for fabric. You do get a nice selection of stuff with this, and you could use the flat pincushion, but it's not a tomato and it doesn't have a pin sharpening strawberry, so, there's that. Other than that, it's well constructed and would be very nice for a beginner in earnest or an intermediate sewing enthusiast.

Beautiful set. Unfortunately the pack of needles were missing. But am still very happy with it . And nice quality pretty box.
