I was replacing my old gauge that failed with this new one from Amazon. It works really well, and registers the correct psi, with a backlit display that makes it easy to read.

One review says it doesn't work for auto tires out of the box and required a $10 adapter purchase, and that the seller should have been more forthcoming.LOL! It's right there in the title - the gauge comes with 1/8" NPT, or National Pipe Taper. This is 1/8" inside diameter with tapered threads that are 27 per inch, or 1/8-27TPI. Since it is male, this means the gauge comes with 1/8" MNPT threads.Tire valves are 5/16" with parallel threads that are 32 per inch, or 5/16-32TPI (M8x0.8 in metric). In other words, the tire is a Schrader valve. The plumbing and HVAC world is rife with seemingly conflicting (or compatible) fittings that appear to conflate inside and outside diameters. Don't mess with them unless you know what you're doing. For example, a tapered 1/8" NPT is not the same as a tapered 1/8" BSP (which is the British Standard Pipe). Then there's G1/8", which is BSPP, or British Standard Parallel Pipe, where the threads are not tapered. Good Luck!Meanwhile I used it to replace the analog gauge on a Masterflow MF-1050, a high-volume auto inflator (57 LPM) that hooks directly to the battery. This gauge is a bit larger in diameter than the original gauge, so I had to reverse the direction of the handle, but not too big to prevent screwing it into the unit.Getting to the batteries will be a slight challenge, but hopefully won't need to be changed often.

Purchased to repair a damaged inflation tool. Gauge had been smashed but rest of the tool was intact. Replaced smashed gauge with this product and it’s now better than new! Excellent value.

I wanted to use this on a portable air tank to monitor the pressure, but I soon realized that it never turns off when there is pressure present. The back light turns off, but not the unit itself. This drains the batteries and would require them to be replaced every couple of weeks or so. This is better suited to be used on air tools rather than as a pressure gauge on tanks.

See photo. The terminals to "series the batteries" is missing on one side. The replacement came in today. It has the terminal that is needed. So far I like the gauge...I will re-rate after I use it a few times. This one just happened to be missing a piece.

This replaced a dial gauge and it fit perfectly. It’s easy to use, easy to read and bright enough to read in the daylight.
