We have a 55 pound Border Collie / Pointer mix dog who loves to be out in the snow. I walk her several times a day, but she'd prefer to stay outside all day if we let her (which we don't). I'm not covered in fur like she is so I can't stay out in the cold as long as she can, but I do let her stay outside on a lead in the back yard for a while in the afternoons to keep her happy and safe. We live on a 55 mph road and I don't want her wandering anywhere near the street.Our old tie out cable finally wore out after many years and I needed a replacement. That brand is no longer available, but I found this one which is the same style and made of the same materials so I ordered it. I really like the shock absorbing spring for when she tries to run beyond 30 feet. It's a little easier on her if she tries to go that far, but to be honest, she's getting older and she doesn't pull a lot or dash after rabbits and squirrels any longer so it's probably more for my peace of mind than anything else.

This is really a nice quality (hate to call it a 'chain'). My dog likes to be in the front yard, but she is a barker and really big. She scares people. This is the perfect length and strength to let her be out with me and keep her away from the sidewalk!

My dog loves being outside, and a tie out cable is a good, hugely-less-expensive alternative to fencing in my yard. Her last cable/leash had deteriorated after several years out in the weather, so I got this one as a replacement. BTW, it's a good idea to check these cables for wear; once the vinyl coating gets damaged the cable underneath will corrode, and it can become very weak even though it looks fine at a distance.This cable is nice and thick and I expect to get a good many more years use out of it. The shock absorber spring is a good idea, especially if your dog is like mine and insists on charging at squirrels even though she knows she won't be able to reach them.

We have some cats who go out on their harnesses, and we wanted to figure out a way to give them a bit more freedom safely. This works great - because of the way it goes into the ground, it’s easy to reposition it, but is very sturdy with the cats hooked up.

We have 2 large dogs and one is a Husky mix. While she doesn’t really run away she decides when she wants to come back in. Since we don’t leave our dogs unsupervised we decided to use tie offs around the property. We have 5 different areas with tie offs and 6 different brands and styles of these. I was a little leery since this one is relatively cheap. Most have been good but the problems we’ve ran into have been with the thinner cable ones. The first time the dog puts a good pull on it, it wants to coil up like a ribbon. This has a thicker cable as well as the spring system to help with that. The claw style clips make it easy to detach and work well. I did find that if you can find a good priced one like this it’s cheaper to buy 2 shorter (30’) than 1 50’ if you have that much space.
