You can already see from the listing how rustic this hoe looks. But the photos don't do justice to how heavy duty it is.This will take a 1 1/4 inch handle tapered down to roughly one inch. The steel is approximately 2 mm thick, which doesn't sound like much until you get your hands on it.It is thick, heavy steel that is thick enough to sharpen in a meaningful way. Instead of hacking at weeds with a flimsy, stamped sheet metal hoe, this will cut through heavy roots and hard soil with authority. It's going to be a lot heavier to wield, if all you're doing is chopping tiny weeds in your garden. But if you're out in a field taking out large weeds, this is the tool to have with you.

This is not bad, but it looks unfinished like a prototype one would make in their garage. The metal bent to hold the handle is not perfectly round. It would look like it came from an antique shop, except it is in new condition with no signs of aging.Notice that the black part is one piece of metal, and the silver part is another piece welded on. The alignment on the one I received look like it was hand made.I was surprised how unrefined the item is, but it is strong, and I would like to see this get updated with cleaner fit and finish. I would not give this as a gift, but if they clean it up, and improve the manufacturing process, this would be a stout and serious hoe.
