So you don't have to scoure through all the reviews, here's my takeaway and since directions are a bit laking, those too.We keep a cold house when not home and at night so my starter was struggling and this absolutely helped; even used it for proofing when I was home to speed up the process. The pad won't feel hot to the touch it is set lower then or body temp but one cold morning I felt the heat radiating from it when I picked up the cover, so it does work. My starter flourished and my proofing time was shorten. Temperature is not a true set temp but fluxates a tiny bit. The heater will turn on and once at temp will turn for a bit and then turn back on top keep it maintained without going over. The temps goes from 65-140 and the timer up to 23 hours. The cover is an insulated and can be pushed inward to get more height if needed. I have used it with a 12" Pyrex and 7in tall mason jar. Easy to store easy to wipe down.To set temp/timer click the on/off button once until the screen flashes for the edit mode. You will use the on/off to toggle between the temp and timer settings and use the +/- buttons for desired #. Once all set just wait, after a few sec it will stop flashing and your temp/timer are now set. To adjust it, just push on/off button again to go back onto edit mode.Timer function i haven't used yet. It can be set for 23hrs and i assume it would turn off at desired set time length. I read on another review that it will stay on for 21hrs without shutting off so that's what I went with and didn't bother setting the timer.

Love this! I bought this because my kitchen is on the cool side. The pad and cover work perfectly to keep my starter and doughs at the right temp. I would def. recommend.

The mat is quite stiff, so it takes some work to make it lie flat (but it is fairly easy to get it to be “flat enoughâ€). The controls are easy to use, and the temperature adjusts by degree (instead of having a few set temperatures to choose from). The temperature is not exactly accurate, but it is not too far off- generally around 5 degrees lower. The heat is not really even over the mat, but also not too bad (no major hot spots). Combined with the cover, it does a good job of creating a gently warm environment. If your use case requires precise temperature this is probably not for you. But if you just have a cold kitchen, and want something to create a generally evenly warm environment for your doughs or ferments, this is a good option.

This is a simple, well-designed dough proofing system. I finally have a way to have my dough rise with a consistent temperature. Previously, I ordered a bread proofing box and returned it. The instructions were not clear, I could not adjust the heat and I didn't see any way to mount the temperature display on the box as shown in the picture. That one went back and I'm happy with this one.

Just what I needed to keep my sourdough starter at the perfect temperature. Easy to use and the perfect size.

Even with sticker thermometer on the jar, did not warm contents to desired setting, even when covered

I bought this mat for the sole purpose of fermenting my sourdough loaf. Without this, it was taken me about 12 hours which sometimes would lead to over fermentation. I mixed my dough on this mat. Did my stretch and folds started everything at 1 PM and it was ready to proof in the refrigerator by 6 PM. Absolutely a game changer.!!! I started the temp at 78° halfway through went to 85° and and then to 95°. With the cover on.(put a kitchen cloth under the mat )

My kitchen is fairly cold. This heated mat has brought my dough to raise perfectly. Do not over heat though so it doesn’t overheat too much.
