The tool works just fine, you're going to have to rotate the fan with the wrench to get the bolts in the right spot. BMW really left one area, straight up by the water hose, to fit the tool in.Get the bolts lined up right and it's a done deal.

I bought this for my sons 1998 540i. We tried removing the fan without the tool with zero luck. The tool slipped over the 2 bolt heads and I had the 32 mm nut spinning off in seconds. Great fit. easy to use and worked exactly as it was was supposed to. The tools themselves are thick and hefty. They did the job.I cant speak to a nut that is frozen on. We had to use some force but not a ton of it. We hit ours with some penetrant and let it sit for a few minutes and the nut freed up easily. The tool was definitely with the money.

Works very well, used on an '01 330i and an '01 Z3 2.5i. Holes fit around the water pump bolts, so just angle it right. Need to take off the upper radiator hose too but it pops right off.

This wrench fits the BMW m62 V8 perfectly, however, you'll have a much harder time with a m54 motor as the stud grabber wrench (the one with the little holes) isn't really the right size. I know because I used this wrench on my e39 525i and my friend's e39 540i.
