The Dr. Infrared Heater's Advanced Dual Heating System, combining PTC and Quartz Infrared Element, keeps you warm this winter while saving on heating bills. Equipped with a Dual Heating System and High Velocity Low Noise blower, the Dr. Infrared Heater increases the heat distribution and the result is heating your room to a comfortable temperature, fast. The Dr. Infrared Heater is certified by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) USA and Canada, ensuring the highest safety standard. The Dr. Infrared Heater is perfectly safe around children and pets and only gets warm to the touch. It does not have exposed heating elements that can cause a fire. The Dr. Infrared Heater comes with Energy saving Auto Mode, high and low setting when the mode is set to Auto, the unit will cycle on and off and switch between high or low setting to maintain the desired temperature setting. All Dr. Infrared heaters are engineered and designed in the USA. How is Dr. Heater Different from Other Heaters? Dr. Heater uses infrared heating, which heats objects in the room, instantly making you feel comfortably warm. By heating only the objects in the space--not the air--Dr. Heater provides maximum warmth and energy efficiency. With its state-of-the-art technology that helps the room retain air moisture, Dr. Heater do not dry out your skin like those convection heaters that blast out hot air, stripping the room of moisture. And the best part? It will save you money. Use Dr. Heater instead of your regular heating system, and you could save up to 50% on your next electricity bill. Plus, with its tip-over protection and auto shut-off overheat protection, you can sleep soundly knowing you have got a heater that is superior in safety. Tests Show Dr. Heater heats Faster and Better than Competing Heaters. In a side-by-side test comparison in airtight chambers with the same starting temperature, Dr. Heater heated the same amount of space much faster than a competing heater that has a price tag more than double that of Dr. Heater. Dr. Heater Delivers 60% more heat than other 1500-watt heaters. No magic trick--we just understand heat transfer better. Just because two heaters have the same wattage does not mean they transfer the same amount of heat. Wattage indicates the amount of electricity needed to power the heater--not the amount of heat it can deliver. Heater is the first to feature a dual heating system for maximum heat transfer rate. It combines the energy efficiency of infrared heat with the comfort of convection heat to heat your room fast and comfortably--without hot spots and cold spots. Dr. Heater uses a state-of-the-art 7-inch blower that generates higher pressure and moves larger air volume at a lower speed, without any of the noise of those other heaters on the market. Dr. Infrared Heater has three power Settings: Auto, Low 1000W and High 1500W. The auto energy saving mode allows you to set your desired temperature from 50-86F. It smartly selects between the two settings depending on your room temperature. The thermostat regulates the heater and causes it to cycle on and off to maintain the set temperature. You can also manually set the heater to run on High or Low all the time or with a timer. The heater has to be turned on first in order to use the remote. This a safety provision mandated by the Underwriters Laboratory. So, in order to use the remote, the first step for the user is to press the POWER button on the heater itself. This turns the heater on STANDBY. Then, pressing the POWER button on the remote will turn the heater on. The heater can't be turned on if the unit is not on STANDBY.

This infrared heater does the job. I don't like my place too warm, I'm very comfortable in 67 degrees in my house. It's quiet enough to not be a problem. AND it doesn't negatively impact the humidity level in my house. The wheels on the base make it easy to move around and the cord is long enough to stand away from the wall and out into the room. It heats about a 600 square foot area without a problem. I turn it down at night and back up a little during the day. I like sleeping in a cooler space under my warm bedding. The remote makes it easy to raise and lower the temperature. Very happy with my purchase. Why in hell can't we make these in the USA?

We've used similar types of IR boxy heaters for many years, and they really work well. The first was another brand that got used extensively for maybe 4 or 5 years before one of the 4 IR bulbs gave out. The second one (same brand) we used for maybe the last 3 or 4 years, but the sheet metal case developed an annoying vibration/hum I couldn't get rid of. While it worked fine, the sound was bugging us, which eventually made me want to try a new one.So, seeing this Dr Infrared unit on sale here I figured let's try one of these.I'm a little disappointed it only has one Infrared bulb, and was aware that it also has a secondary ceramic heater internally. However, it's still a 1500 watt unit, same as the others we had. So, how does it compare?Very well!I really like the vibration free and smooth sounding operation, it's a gentle steady woosh, and thanks to the solid wood casing around the internal metal "box" the sound is well dampened. And it blends into our mostly wood interior space in a nice way.As far as its heat output, it's definitely doing a good job. Our main living space is a decent sized open living room with an attached kitchen area. The last 6 days/nights since it was delivered have all been highs around 36 f and down into the mid 20's at night, and this heater can keep the main part of the house we spend most of our time in at 68-70 comfortably on its own, which is pretty impressive for such a little thing. The thermostat works perfectly, and I like that it defaults at 68. Our others defaulted at max, so you always had to dial them down to a reasonable temp setting when you turned them on. It quietly and consistently cycles on and off spot on its set temperature according to our indoor thermometer (it reads a couple degrees lower being on the floor vs our indoor thermometer much higher up on a wall, so 68 on the floor = 70 on the wall)) It has a nightmode feature, which I was hoping might dim the bright display and maybe slow the fan too a little?, but it only reduces the normal 4-5 minutes air temp on/off sampling cycle to a 30 minute cycle. So, once it's reached its set temp and the fan and heater go into standby, it stays off and silent for a full thirty minutes before it'll turn on and sample the temp again.I'm not experiencing or feeling a downgrade from our other units we used for so many years, despite those being 4 IR bulb units. Those cost about the same, but this unit so far is heating up the same space just as well, and doing it more quietly. The build quality and sturdy compact cabinet with nice big push buttons, smooth fan and some decent features makes it feel like a nice upgrade in fact.

It's a good heater, but it takes time to warm up a medium-sized room. I like that the housing is cool to the touch and doesn't get hot. However, it needs a room temperature thermometer reading, a handle to carry from room to room, and rounded corners to prevent injuries. For the high price, it should have a better design and more durable buttons.

This is a good heater. I use it on my enclosed porch. Our porch is not heated so I got this heater. I had been using a propane heater, but it was a pain replacing the propane tanks all of the time, so I switched to this. I'm glad I did, it works pretty good. Thing is I realize it is not going to heat my whole porch in the dead of winter, it isn't designed for that. Only if the temperature outside is in the 40's or 50's, then it does a decent job. I put the temperature all the way up to 85 (that's how high the temp goes on the heater) and get it warmed up enough, then I can back it down to 70 or so and I can get the temperature on the porch up to about 65 or so. I can sit on the porch with just a sweater or fleece shirt on. The fan speed stays the same and it's not noisy. It blows the warm air on me and keeps me fairly comfortable. I'm very happy with this little heater, it works for me. If it ever dies, I would definitely purchase this again.

We love the doctor! It works well, heats the room, turns itself off when the temperature is reached, back on when it drops. It's perfect for our basement rec room.
