I recently tried out a drill-mounted metal cutter, and my experience has been quite varied. Initially, I was impressed with how easy it was to attach to my drill and start cutting. It works surprisingly well for light-duty tasks, especially when cutting thin sheet metal around my shop. I’ve successfully cut 1/32" of copper without any issues, which was a pleasant surprise. However, I did notice that the cutter isn’t built for heavy-duty use. One of my friends mentioned that it broke after just a few minutes on aluminum, which makes me cautious about pushing it too hard. While it’s effective for softer metals, I wouldn’t recommend it for anything thicker than 1/32 of an inch. Overall, it's a decent tool for light work, but I’ll be careful not to overestimate its capabilities.

As an attachment, this thing works much better than I thought it would. Of course I have to un rig it from my drill. Should I need to drill anything. But it works well.

PRODUCT:“Drill Plate Cutter Attachment - 2024 Upgraded Metal Nibbler Drill Shears for Cutting Flat Metal Sheets, Cutter Tool Adapter for Cutting Iron, White Sheet, Steel,Copper, Aluminumâ€I’m Unable to test this yet, the bar to my half inch drill handle is far too short. See pictures.(I did try to force the bar up higher, near the trigger, but it was too hard to hold, and the end of bar protruded OUT directly jabbing into the palm of my hand.) Unusable as is.When I can make time to manufacture a new custom bar to fit my drill, I may put the end “loop†on the side, (not back), and bend DOWN under and around so no protruding points, and it will keep a spring in place. (Maybe use a wide short thick silicone rubber band instead of the spring?)(note: I’m not allowed to post brand names. The label on the drills shown are “obfuscated/ unreadable†on purpose.)I found an old smaller hand drill with 1/4" bit opening, and NO Drill Chuck sticking out. The bar fit a bit better, see pictures, BUT it still can’t be used with the end of that bar jabbing hard into my palm. This tool only has 12V battery, and I’m sure it would be under-powered for this task, so a poor test regardless.NOTE: this sheet metal cutter tool is apparently for right handed people ONLY. The handle is on the LEFT side only (no handle mount on right side). The drill with tool CAN be held in my left hand and no bar jabbing my hand, but the cutter portion is awkward to “see†and to line up at the angle needed. I have to move my left arm over to my Right hand side to see the line-alignment on the left side of the cutter section.I’ll update this review with pictures if/when I can make something that works to replace the short "anti-head-rotate" bar.-----------I don’t see a min/max suggested RPM spec. I assume a half inch variable speed drill would be better to get the power needed, especially at slower speeds with curves, and perhaps thicker sheet metals?-----------I see a Round plastic “collar mount†extension for something. It would fasten onto the threads where the handle screws into. (or use an included separate screw and Allen wrench.)That circular type mounting hole opening Diameter is: Width 1.5â€, Height 1-11/16†(the clamp-screws direction opening); The Width of the plastic ring itself is 3/4"The adjustable Slot length under the handle screw is 1-7/8†long.I can’t think of anything the plastic ring could mount onto? A Die Grinder maybe? (are they slow enough, variable speed, easy to hold?)The wire bar “rotation stop†guide would NOT be needed if this plastic mount could be used instead of it.I don’t see this being able to be used with most all drills that have both chucks and variable-clutch-tension rings.-----------The “side handle†that screws into the side of this sheet metal cutter looks like it’ll work OK to guide the cut.The thing wrong with the one I received was that the Bolt embedded in the handle it was NOT straight. It was very hard getting the handle lined up to be screwed in with that bolt so crooked. It was NOT lined up with the handle axis. (I finally got it, but frustrating.)-----------
