Dritz Slip Stop Thimble, Size Extra-Large is a favorite of sewers and quilters. The safety ridge on top of the thimble keeps the needle from slipping.

I was searching for a nice, sturdy metal thimble to use on my right middle finger to help push needles through any tough layers or fabrics when hand sewing. This is sturdy, non-slip if just a bit large but it goes all the way on my finger so more of that digit is protected, rather than not. I may slip a bit of soft, thin fabric into it if I need for perfect fit.

I was looking for a bigger thimble than the one my wife gave me and when I ordered the largest size in this model I finally had what I had been needing. I stay up slot at night from all my years of working night shifts. So to have something to do while RV is back-round noise I stick up our little dogs favorite pheasant toys that he tries his hardest to kill every day when we play or when he goes up to as my wife’s calls it ( let’s go see air peoples and they head up to grandma and grandpa’s house with a little container of chicken that they like to feed Special Ed as he chases and plays with his stuffed toy pheasants ) he has four or five up there and usually over the course of the week a coupe are returned to our house for repairs. I’ve been sewing these for a couple of years now as we have about seven or so in rotation ( just purchased five more ) so I continue to stick these up and I’ve found that if I double and triple stitch the spots he tears up that he can no longer rip it right there and it also gives him sop specific to bite on which s what he likes. So this is where the thimble comes in handy. When you start double and triple stitching or getting right next to a previous repair it gets Almost Impossible to Get the Needle thru sometimes and I was previously using to small of a thimble ( fit my little finger only ) Now with the large thimble I am able to use my index finger ( FAT FINGER ) to push the needle thru much easier and more controlled. I Also Like the Grooved Sides as once you get the needle pushed part way thru these tight spots you need to continue to pull it thru and it sometimes is very tuff to do. With the grooves as you squeeze onto the needle with side of the thimble and your thumb the grooves kinda bind on to the needle if you put enough pressure against it and can eventually tug the needle thru these really tuff spots do it has made a rep as it job a lot simpler and my finger is no longer raw or bleeding anymore. Gotta Keep Eddie Happy as he loves to play every day. Just saying do you want to go play or go see grandma and grandpa gets him jumping up and down. And as we all know there is nothing like a “HAPPY PUPPY”! C.N.

Not a happy camper at try-on: immediately orderd the XL in the hopes they truly are extra large. I like a snug thimble but not painful. The one I received is very nice to use, but it is too tight and sits too high. I generally use just one thimbled finger so this will join the pile in the drawer. Hopefully, the XL is good. I do not have what I call large anything so for me to require an EXTRA LARGE is most unusual. I may suggest unless you can read these widths and depths, go up a size. With metal there is some flexibility in a light plier squeeze to tighten should it be too big (very little chance), HEY

I am a man. So I wear my clothes until the atoms lose cohesion. One of my favorite pairs of around the house / yard work pants kept ripping in weird places despite just buying them in 1997. Over the years I've sewn various bits back together. Every time my finger would hurt from trying to drive a needle through the cloth. This thing stops that. But it is too small to drink out of it.

Sewing repairs to jeans, difficult to push needle thru thick material, bought extra large thimble to fit the long finger. I had a large thimble that fits my ring finger, but it hurt to push with that finger. The pressure on the long finger works easier for me. I can finish my repairs now

The thimble I've used for decades for sewing patches on jeans turned up missing so I needed a new one. I'm a man and my fingers are normal size for a male, maybe even a little smaller than average. With sizes of petite, small, medium, large and xlarge, I figured large would fit the tip of my ring finger. Not even close! It will barely fit my pinkie, which won't work because my pinkie isn't strong enough. I asked a female friend with average female fingers, to try it on and it wouldn't fit her two middle fingers either. It would almost fit her index finger. The large is labeled as 17mm and the xlarge as 18mm. 1mm is not much larger so it's highly unlikely their largest size will fit. Don't they know that men also sew? With this size range they need to add XXlarge and XXXlarge. I can only hope that I can find my old thimble.

Measures 16mm inside. My ring size is 4 at the base if my nail. A person's ring size at the base of their finger doesn't translate to thimble sizes. This thimble is sturdier and keeps the needle from slipping so much better than the ones that come in inexpensive kits. I can almost forget that I am wearing it as it doesn't get in the way. I have many thimbles, including the leather ones with a metal coin. This one is much better. The leather one has seams the needle sometimes slips in between. I think I might form this one in an oval so it is even more comfortable. For finding your size, this is a great thimble before spending a lot on a silver thimble. As an aside, a ball bearing can be hammered against the back to give a little flare which might be more comfortable for some finger shapes.

Standard, as expected. Purchased a large but it’s way too big. That’s my fault though, item quality is good.

Very well made. Fits perfectly. I have thin fingers and was so happy to find this petit thimble.
