This is my go to tool when hemming pants. Durable product with all the common measurements on it. Numbers don’t rub off. Highly recommend!

So glad I bought this sewing tool. Works great with an iron to get even hems on curved and straight edges. Now I want a longer one!Came a little bent from shipping. Wish they'd ship things like this with more protection.

This hemmer saves me so much time as it makes hemming my dresses and skirts so quick and easy. It’s metal so you can iron right on it. The measurement markings are etched into it and easy to read and it’s very sturdy. Wouldn’t be without it now.

Good size...approximately 8 1/2 inches on the longest side; 4 3/4 on the short side. Has metric on one size and inches on the other. The measurements appear to be slightly engraved into the metal with crisp black ink markings. So far, have only used this for straight and not curved hems.Pros: has ruler on long and short side. Convenient lines to width of the gauge (meaning there is a line across the width of the gauge) markings for 1/2 inch, 1/4 inch and 5/8 inch on the short side. 1/2 inch only on the long side. Metal so you can iron directly on the fabric and hem gauge. Easy to see numbers and markings.Cons: (and the only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5) Only the short side has line across the width of the gauge marking 1/4 inch, 1/2 inch and 5/8 inches. Which means every 4 inches you have to move the hem gauge. The long side has a line across the width of the gauge marking 1/2 inches, but not 1/4 or 5/8 inches. I took a permanent marker and drew a straight line across the long side to mark 1/4 inch hem. It held up to the steam iron for at least one session. Will see if the permanent marker holds up. This is the only drawback to this otherwise very useful hem gauge. Have no idea why the 1/4 inch and 5/8 inch marking was not included across the long side.

This gauge is clearly marked for several purposes. It is well-made & I expect to use it for a long time.

I received mine today and it came bent. This wont deter me from using it. It may press out over time.So the hemmer is good, just a little wonky.

Whether you sew well or just hem your clothes, you need this tool!! It’s a little hard to understand how it works just looking at it, but you use it with an iron. You put this on the wrong side of the fabric on your ironing board and turn up the hem from the raw edge, match it to the inch mark and press (with the hem gauge in the middle), sliding the tool and going around the entire hem. No pinning or marking necessary and you are sure you’re accurate! I’ve had one of these for 45 years and only had to replace it once because the numbers were wearing off from heavy use.

Fabulous sewing aid. For turning up 1/4 inch hems or edges, there's nothing better. It's the best tool for getting even, precise hems on straight hemmed garments and unbelievably helpful if trying to turn a curved hem. Markings are clear and plentiful and because it's metal, I can iron right on the gauge. It does get hot - it's metal, after all, and metal conducts heat - but it cools off quickly. An indispensable aid if you sew.

Great help hemming skirts, especially when using difficult fabrics like silk and chiffon. Cuts down prep time considerably.
