Bought this tool to add grommets to a drawstring backpack I was making for my toddler granddaughter. Followed the very clear instructions and it worked like a charm first time. Next project will be to turn a sheet into a shower curtain. Will definitely get many uses out of this size grommet because it's "standard" for multiple uses.

This was my first time using grommets, and while the pliers came with instructions, I'm a visual learner, so I went to YouTube and looked up the official Dritz video showing how to use them. Turns out, the same video is linked with the product here on Amazon. It was very helpful and while I didn't use the pliers to cut the hole in the fabric (I had already cut the hole with scissors before watching the video) setting my 3/8" grommet was a success on my first try. There's no way it's coming out and it looks great. I would highly recommend this tool for a beginner.

I used this on a neoprene footbrace that was too narrow. It applied the grommets fine, but the hole punching did not work on such a thick fabric. It made an outline which I had to trim with scissors. The tool to remove the different punches was not easy and I would up using pliers to change out the different punch tools. Also,it has instructions and pictures which should be easy, but I confused two parts and my grommet got stuck until i figured it all. In all I am impressed with its ability to work with neoprene, but the size is for crafts and definitely will look weird with clothing items because the grommets are large. Also the dritz grommets are terrible, several did not fit together and they are sold separately. Attached is the picture of my foot brace modification, which I applied the grommett inside out so I would not have any scratching on my foot.

The stable insert (pink) that came with the pliers did not fit my Dritz 3/8 grommets. However I had one that did work (green in the pictures) all the other inserts worked very nicely but the remover tool does not work well. The pliers are too thick and the plastic nib does not go up enough to push the insert out. I tried my removal tool from my other Dritz pliers with the same results. I needed them for a time sensitive project so I won't be returning and hopefully I just got a fluke pair.

Once you get the hang of installing grommets, these go in easily. For the price they look just fine. They're great for using for drawstring ties on purses, and since they come in a variety of finishes you can match all your hardware for a professional look. The installation equipment that came with my original set was not up to the job so I got the pliers and will review those as soon as I use them. I'm hoping the pliers will make the installation process easier!
