Ok so our fire place stopped working. it used to turn on with a flip of a wall switch. so i opened up the unit and didn't see any physical red pilot switch i used to see in previous houses. checked youtube and found out this item itself is the pilot switch and most likely the solution to the problem. swapped the box with the old one, flipped the wall switch and voila...! our fire place is now working! swapping is very easy. make sure to turn the wall switch off and just pull out wires from sockets carefully and insert into a new one. if you have the same issue try this and hope this'll fix your problem as well! only wished i bought this when it stopped working a few years back and not after we moved out of the house(selling it now) so we'd enjoyed our fireplace during cold winter...

Fireplace stopped lighting last winter. I found some simple trouble-shooting process in the manual and quickly identified the control module as the fault. Looking up by numbers on module, I found this part for a very reasonable price. Installed it yesterday. An exact fit and easy to swap it in one connector at a time. Fireplace working is perfectly and ready for autumn.

It took about 3 minutes to swap out my old control unit which wasn't lighting and this came right on. Very pleased. Would have been about $350 at least to have a pro do it.
