We have kept horses in the sandy soil of Burlington County NJ and now down in FL. Even though our pastures are fairly lush, horses STILL pull up roots, soil, grit, and who knows what else when they graze! Our draft horses in particular really yank up the greenery. We dispense Sand-Rid every day in both AM/PM feed. We suggest a daily dose - waiting to do once a month could be too little too late! We test our stool samples - and they have always come back clear, and so we've never had to worry about sand colic. Yes, there is an expense to this - but it's minor for our peace of mind and for continued good gut health. If you've ever known the expense and horror of colic surgery, this product regimen is a small price to pay. Try it! Recommended very highly from the "kids" at Finish Line Farm, Citra, Florida.

We use this once a month for our two horses. Very happy with product.

This is the best psyllium I have found. I love the easy of shipping it straight to the ranch. All three of my horses don’t mind the taste. Great value.

The psyllium is great. We use it 4 feedings a month; AM & PM and never have sand issues. We also think it helped flush out several interoliths from a gray gelding. Only problem, this time we ordered the 20 lb. container. Very difficult to get the lid off. But it definitely keeps the pellets in.

I use psyllium husk to treat my mare's chronic diarrhea. I found out recently she has inflammatory bowel disease (just like humans get.) I was so glad that my suspicions were finally acknowledged by the vet....The psyllium husk helps to slow down the spastic movement of the horses's gut, when the bowel is inflamed, which, I am sure, must be as painful to my mare as it is to me. (I also have the problem.) My poor mare was suffering a long time, after having been starved nearly to death, when she was rescued in northern Oregon. I adopted her from an animal rescue farm after they had treated her severe underweight condition. After adopting her (2017) I noticed she would have bouts of the "squirts," and then it would just stop. I tried EVERYTHING! In the most recent last few months I have been using psyllium pellets successfully, along with kaopectate, because I was "feeling her pain," and my diy treatment was working very well. I found that timothy hay pellets soaked, along with the psyllium and kao pectate are doing the trick just fine, and she is so much happier. (I am too :) .) If anyone sees this, and has a horse struggling with mysterious bouts of diarrhea, but the horse isn't otherwise sickly, please consider looking into treating the symptoms. Our horses are speaking to us, so we need to learn how to listen. Be sure to ask the vet first, so that suspicion of all other illnesses can be eliminated. Pay close attention to symptoms, and note them, so the vet can get a good picture of the problem.

I provide a week out of the month to keep my horses sand free. A good supplement program.

I like the pelleted form and the fact it does not have a lot of flavors in it for the horses to refuse. They eat it up with the stable mix.
