These plugs keep the water out. I like the cord to keep them together. They do make hearing a bit rough. The package States they keep water out but let sound in. But the reality is they are very hard to hear when you're using them. Beats surfers ear

The "wings" didn't fit either of our ears - either too big or too small, but the plugs themselves did fit me better (smaller ears), though not super comfortable.I wore them to a concert and did enjoy being able to put them in and take them out as needed without having to look for the case, so the string was very useful. Come to think of it, I can prob use that string for my sunglasses too.I didn't get to try the plugs for swimming, so I can't speak for their efficacy for that, but they did work okay at a concert (better than no plugs), though not as effective as my regular concert earplugs (also made by the same brand and technically intended for sleeping, but I like them for both).The plugs came in with a handy zipper pouch case and a carabiner.

I bought this earplug for swimming and this the best one so far... I have use many other they never blocked water but this one is really good, very comfortable, perfect fit, best quality.

I’ve lost count of how many SoftVox earplugs I have tried. Each one has been slightly different in its use and design, and I have enjoyed them all.As for these earplugs specifically, I was excited to get these for my spouse who has gotten back into swimming. She had a little ear-irritation from lap swimming but was concerned about using a traditional earplug because the lanes are very often split and are quite busy. This seemed like the perfect solution.She reported that the various sizes of plugs and hoops allowed her to find the fit that worked well for her. She did not like the feeling of the necklace but was impressed with how easy it was to remove and run without the necklace if desired. There is a reduction of noise and an overall dulling of the frequencies however it is a vast difference from a standard plug that intends on cutting significant DBs. This provided a good result for her to keep water out, while letting enough sound in to maintain her surroundings.As mentioned above, I’ve owned a great number of SoftVox ear plugs and have had great results from all of them. I can’t help but mention my favorite model they offer While these have no relation to the swimming plugs, they offer an awesome aluminum pill case and are so effective when slipping on and off my motorcycle helmet, I absolutely love them. I end up using these plugs for yard maintenance as well.
