If a sledge hammer is the “broad swordâ€, then this little beauty is the “scalpelâ€. I’m tearing down a small building that requires more than your average hammer, but not a sledge. This three pound beast is the perfect middle for that issue. It has enough weight that it can crack a board or drywall, but not too much where you obliterate the target sending wood and/or nails everywhere. Don’t even get me started on exploding drywall… Speaking of drywall, this punches a nice hole without cracking the drywall into pieces, allowing you to get your saw in there and cut it out. Or, if you are like me, I just walk the hammer down the wall instead of using the saw. The other good thing about this hammer is how it’s made. It has a solid wood handle that is thick enough to provide a solid grip. It’s also long enough to be balanced for a proper swing and not hurt your arm or shoulder swinging it. Swinging an unbalanced heavy object is a good way to tear up your shoulder, but you won’t have that problem with this if used correctly. Out of the box, this thing is absolutely gorgeous. It’s polished to a high shine and the wood handle just begs you to hold out your hand and summon it like Thor. I almost didn’t want to use it because of how amazing it looked. But, just like a Ferrari was built to scream down the asphalt, this hammer was built to do some wrecking. If you are looking for a hammer to build something, this might not be the one for you. This is not made to drive nails, it’s made for busting them up out of wood. As an added bonus, if you combine this with a tie rod separator tool (a tool for your vehicle), it makes an excellent wedge/separator tool. Part of the building tear down requires I save a fence around it and reuse as much wood as possible. I’m able to use the hammer and tie rod separator to wedge the old boards off the broken fence without breaking them. A regular hammer doesn’t have enough weight, and a sledge would destroy it. This hammer allowed me to separate 20 boards while loosing just one.Do yourself and your tool collection a favor, and get this hammer

Got this for my wife... ... ... She recently picked up one of those cast iron 'kindling cracker' gizmos and my hand sledge was too heavy at 5# for her to swing around repeatedly. She wanted a lighter one. This one is a perfect 3# for her use and it does work well. Seems well made, wooden handle / grip is smooth and head is pertty solid with beveled edges. She's happy, I'm happy and now she has her own "Sluggo"!! It's Chinese so we'll see how it does in the long run.

I purchased this to use for general suspension and under-car work.I have also used at home for a couple cinder block/demo projects. The price is right: not the least expensive, but well worth the extra few dollars compared to cheap hammers.Several friends have used it and appreciated the tool for what it does. The wood handle feels good in the hand without any odd vibrations.I would buy it again and have recommended it to many people.

Good quality and nicely weighted for easy use. Only thing I noticed is that where it's been scratched it already has minor rust. Don't think it will be an issue for my limited use and obviously doesn't affect it's function.

I told my wife, "It's Hammer Time". I think she was expecting to see me in baggy pants outside splitting wood, thinking of 1980's M.C. Hammer! But no, it's this great little mini-sledge.All you expect and more from this great little hammer. I bought it to split kindling for our wood-stove and it works great for that application. Seems well made and durable. Highly recommended!

My old small sledge seemed to have walked away somehow, so I replaced it with this one. Good choice for the price!

Unbelievable quality for the price! Handle is with out varnish so it has a fairly non slip grip. Handle embossing is not really deep enough to offer more grip. Head is nice solid piece of steel. I’m a little worried about the this steel skirt below the head that is there to protect the handle. Afraid it will crack if I hit it on something hard someday. That should effect the life of the handle though. Wood grain isn’t quite parallel to the head but close enough. I would recommend this hammer without hesitation!
