The bowl has a sharp edge which often pierces thd yolk membrane. Also, there is no hook or ridge to hold the separator onto the cop or bowl used to collect the egg whites.

The cup part of this separator is very shallow so I was not expecting it to work so well. It works very well and quickly separates the egg yolk without damage. I also was expecting damaged yolks because the edges seem a bit sharp for this purpose but I only damaged one of 5 yolks by being too aggressive with it. I was gratuitously aggressive just to see what it would take to damage a yolk. It did take a fair bit of manhandling before I cracked a yolk. For basic use, this is my new favorite goto method. It works fast too, even when you get those thick whites that need encouragement to fall though other separators. This handled those with ease. This works like it’s supposed to. It handled the dishwasher well also. Its relatively thin profile plays well in your utensil drawer.
