I ordered this mat as my old one was about 15 years old and my rotary cutter was not cutting very well and it wasn’t the blades. I figured it had to be the mat, so I chose this one for the multiple layers, the two sided capability. It’s a much heavier and bigger mat I had, but it’s really nice and I’m sure it’s going to hold up much longer than my old one. If you are going to classes, I would choose a smaller size than what I got just to be able to carry easier.

I bought this for my hobby room as I work on building models and doing jewelry. This is terrific. The size is excellent as is covers a good part of my workbench and allows me to "spread out" those ports that I am working on. I use exacto knives a lot for cutting and the pad protects the workbench and self heals.I recommend this item.

My angle on this: I own 2 (other) cutting mats and use a few others where I volunteer.This is much more rigid than any other mat I've seen, and for me that's a big plus. It means that when I take it off my desk and stand it up, it doesn't flop over, which could lead to developing a semi-permanent curve if I left it that way for an extended period of timeIt's thicker, which might explain the rigidity. I measured my Fiskars mat (1.55mm thick) and this one (just over 3mm thick), so it's almost double the thickness. I'm neutral about this, but you might care so I figured I'd mention it.It doesn't have a hole to use to hang it up. For me that's a plus because on my mat with a hole, I have to be careful when I'm cutting near that area to work around the hole. It you want to hang this up on a hook or nail, you won't be able to do that.I bought the A2 mat with Imperial (non-metric) markings. The area with markings is 17" by 23" and in fact, the overall size of the mat is less than 18" by 24". Many other A2 mats have a full 18" by 24" working area and this does not.I've been using it for a short time and thus far I am extremely happy and would buy this brand again if I need another mat.

I bought this mat so I can cut Eva foam on it when working on my cosplay and it works great! Decent size and work great! It still looks just like new and I bought this almost 8 months ago - definitely worth the purchase for sure

Great size and quality for my needs of cutting reflective tape/paper products.I put my deodorant stick in for size comparison.I gave 4 stars because the measuring grid is actually 8x11. The "9x12" was just a round up because the overall mat dimension are roughly 1/4 shy of the actual stated 9x12.They should just sell the mat as 8x11. However other measuring products like a granite surface plate come in 9x12 so to have this mat on top of those dimensions would be a good surface protector. All in all I am very satisfied with this mat and would recommend.

I was looking for a cutting mat to use for some paper crafts. I wanted to buy something that would function nicely for me but not cost very much. I was pleasantly surprised when I found this one. After receiving it, I was pleased with the quality and durability of the mat. It provides a nice surface to use an X-acto knife on top of, and the grid/ruler on the mat was also helpful. This is a great choice for a cutting mat if you are looking for something that is functional and affordable.
