I've used a couple of these manual smokers but I can never get the nice smokey flavor that they get at bars and thought that was just because they had better smokers. My friend got one of the electric blower smokers for his cocktails and that was pretty cool but they were pricey. This definitely was a good medium between the two.PROS:- GOOD SMOKE QUALITYThe smoker was so easy to use that it filled my cocktail with smoke within a few seconds without me trying to burn the wood as much as I would with normal smokers.- COMPACT AND RECHARGEABLEThe footprint was similar to my manual wood smoker. It's cool to see that they were able to fit everything without increasing the size. I like that it's rechargeable and I don't have to plug in anything else like a hose to use it.- COMPLETE KITThe kit came with the lighter (which was also a lot better quality than I thought it would be) and a bunch of different smoking wood chips.CONS:- NO TIMERThere is no timer on the smoker so you'll have to press the power button once you get the smoke you want. I ended up stopping it too late when I first tried it and the wood chips ended up getting burnt and gave my drink a burnt flavor.- SCREEN REPLACEMENTSThe kit came with one metal mesh screen replacement but would be good to see if the seller can either include more or provide a link on how to buy more screens should I need it.

I've been subscribing to a cocktail making class online and I needed a smoker. After reading reviews, this smoker felt like a safe bet (especially when you're doing something intimidating like playing with fire!).Note, you do need to buy butane to go with this, bit you can get that at any normal head shop or smoke shop in your area.I'd say the other reviews that say less is more are right - you don't need too many wood chips. You'll overpower the cocktail if you over smoke it.I'd also recommend making this with spicier profile drinks - bourbon, mezcal - the smoke pairs nicely with these!

ordered one, came uncharged. plugged it in and it would not charge at all. tried charging overnight, no joy. won't turn on or hold a charge at all.replaced it through amazon and got a new one. exactly the same problem. looks like it may be a bad batch.try a different brand.

I resisted the "smoker" trend for a while, but finally gave in. This set appealed to me because of the fan in the smoker that pulls the smoke down into the glass. The others seems to let gravity do it. I've only tried half the flavored wood chips thus far. It gives a subtle flavor to the whiskey (I've done it with only with an Old Fashioned). Is it vital? No, but it does give your normal drink some interesting variation.Kudos on the instructions. I'm guessing the company is in China (the box says "Made in China") and usually this means pretty bad instructions. But these instructions are both comprehensive and well written, yet simple and easy to follow. The instructions include how to use the smoker, but also how to use the butane torch (including how to fill with butane - which is not included).It It warns you not to use too many wood chips and to use only a pinch or two. I would have definitely used more. A pinch was more than adequate and provided enough smoke. The fan is just a slight pull, but more than adequate. I had to hold it to my ear to make sure it was running. But when used, the smoke is pulled into the glass.At the end of the day, I won't use it every time I make an Old Fashioned, but when I want to mix it up (or show off for guests) I'll use it to add variation.
