I used these for the bottom of 2 55 gallon drums that I am using for rain barrels. They go on easy and work well. Open the handle and the water flows smoothly. Well-made and seem to last, even during the freezing temps.

I’ve got one rain barrel that gets a lot of use - it fills up quick and I’m always draining it and then valving it off to refill. As a result I’ve damaged the basic hose connector piece that hooks to the hose section at the end of last Fall I was losing quite a bit of water.Looking at this valve, I think it will do a great job. I’ll have to drill out the hole a bit to accommodate the collar for the valve, but I’m very impressed with how well designed this unit is. It has a thick washer/o-ring on the collar that should seal well. The valve itself threads into the collar and it has an adapter to hook up to a hose fitting (or use the 3/4†female pipe thread if you’re tying into an irrigation system).We have a couple of feet of snow on the ground and I’ve winterized my barrels, so I don’t have an installed photo, but looking forward to using this to rejuvenate that barrel in the Spring.

This just makes adding valves to your tanks so easy. Comes with everything you will need. Don’t be shy with the teflon tape and don’t over do it with the tightening.
