Over the years, we’ve purchased a multitude of these dishes - mostly small and medium size though we also have bought 2 of the large- and they have all held up well except for the large one- the inside coating broke down over a two year period. Because it can be difficult which size of dish is right for your needs, I’ve included photos comparing three of them (large, medium and small) in relation to one another.We purchased a large dish when my daughter bought her corn snake 2 years ago and although we kept it clean and never used any abrasive cleansers, the interior coating deteriorated, leaving the inside of the bowl very rough and stained. We can rule out hard water deposits as Lyra only receives bottled water. We recently purchased a replacement dish and we use the old dish now for damp moss to bring up the humidity level whenever she sheds (she also enjoys burrowing in it even though she is over four and a half feet long) and we are using the new one as her day-to-day water dish. I’m sure we will purchase another when this dish breaks down, too.Outside of this one issue, we’ve used these for years without any issues. They are heavy so they stay in place and the various reptiles (snake’s, skinks, and lizards) can’t tip them over. I’ll definitely continue to purchase this brand as needed.

I bought this as a "relief" water source, and my Plated Lizard Shenron uses it everyday with no issues. Climbs right up the rock and lays his body flat, all 16 inches of him, in the 3 inches of water then walks right out. Clean up is easy as the bowl weighs about 4 pounds. It's SOLID cersmic/rock whatever it may be. So lifting it can be difficult if you have a crowded tank or what not. Lowering it could be difficult if your wrist can't keep the weight level, but as far as the reptile moving it, not a chance. Even when he goes into full spaz freak out mode, and tail whips it with his 2 inch diameter tail the water doesn't even move. This thing is solid, deep enough for even large lizards to relieve themselves, and matches perfectly with the rest of the set. Makes a desert tank work very well. Just be warned, this is a large body of water in a what I would imagine you'd put it in a desert tank for its looks. It will spike your humidity. Just cut a large vent hole or add a PC Fan as a form of circulation and you'll see your numbers go right back down.
