I didn't expect pencil lead to be so satisfying! These are smooth like butter. No scratchiness at all. This really is one of the best art supplies I've purchased. I'm sure they're great for writing as well. These feel like the leads that came with my rotring pencil, except these are darker, which is what I prefer.

Although it comes with the shabby package, the quality, the smoothness, the darkness are much better than Rotring's or Pentel's.Made in Malaysia.

These are great for people with low vision who like to uose pencil, such as on a Crossword puzzle. The lead is smooth, not smudgy, and dark enough to give a good contrast for those with low vision. They erase cleanly. Much presfer these to the traditional HD leads.

I am an 80 year old who loves doing crossword puzzles. This lead has made it so much easier to read the printed letters, it is nice and dark.

I purchased this (Faber-Castell 0.7 2B) trying to find lead that was darker than the standard HB (Papermate). I also purchased some 4B (Pentel 0.5) lead, expecting it to be even darker. But the comparison is interesting. HB is the lightest. 2B a bit darker, and 4B very slightly darker. But the surprising difference is the Faber-Castell lead stays dark regardless of the angle of the light source. The Pentel 2B and papermate HB both reflect a lot of light, where the Faber-Castell 2B is far less reflective. All three are equally smudge proof and erasable. For that reason, I'll be switching to primarily using 0.7 pencils, because this lead is the best I've found.

2B leads are great as they are clearer & easier to erase. Size.7 mm helps. Someone wrote me s note in .5 mm with HB pencil & I could hardly read it! So at least I can read my own notes as long as I write legibly!
