Asking around about what type of slip mat is best is a fruitless endeavor since everyone has a preference between rubber, leather, wool, felt, cork, acrylic, etc. I decided to get this one because it's understated, I had seen others demonstrate records having the least static buildup from wool and felt mats, and I figured if it didn't work well with my turntable, I could just use it on my cleaning station and it's inexpensive enough that I woudn't mind if it got wet.Well, after played dozens of records on this one, I've noticed a next to no static buildup on them. I can't say for sure if this mat helped at all but compared to the stock rubber mat on my Technics SL-Q30, which had the records literally crackling with static when I took them off the platter after only one play, it's a vast improvement. It won't remove static, of course, but if you play a freshly cleaned record on it, there won't be any additional static charge as a result of this mat.I will say, however, that it can collect dust if left out. If you have a dust cover on your player, this is ideal. If not, you may need to vacuum it periodically. I used my Vinyl Vac that I use for cleaning when it arrived so it's clean and free of dust/debris. Definitely a great buy! I'll probably get others like it in different colors in the future.
