Ideal as an aid in aligning bolt or rivet holes prior to inserting a fastener.

I bought the item to try to punch holes in a plastic pipe (part of watering system). Did not really work (did not make any holes). So probably bought the wrong tool for the job. Maybe it can be used successfully for something else?
